Dec 28, 2017 at 18:50 comment added user67108 @Calchas I used to be an active FB member between the late 1990 and late 2000s. I am now mostly accruing miles on Cathay Pacific & Thai Airways, so I have a couple of comparison points. I can assure you that Flying Blue, especially once you reach Gold (an, even better, Platinum, which I was a few years), you can really accrue mileage quickly, compared to CX or TG. And I failed last year to renew my Gold status with CX, despite flying several times monthly, due to their system "upgrade" – which shifted tier qualification from mileage/sectors to points, putting an emphasis on dollars paid.

Dec 27, 2017 at 16:05 comment added user67108 They acquired a majority stake, and basically merged both airlines into one. They also optimized overlapping routes. BTW, SkyTeam was founded by Aeroméxico, AF, Delta and Korean Air. KLM wasn't involved back then.
Dec 27, 2017 at 16:05 comment added phoog @WGroleau I don't know whether one company acquired the other, but they definitely merged into one company, keeping the distinct brands. See Wikipedia for more information.
Dec 27, 2017 at 15:58 comment added WGroleau Did Air France acquire” KLM, or merely join the “Sky Team” alliance with them and Delta?
