Had you entered NZ using the NZ passport? If so, did anyone ask about the lack of an entry record for your UK passport?

I last entered NZ using the NZ passport, as I'd used it to travel to Australia. The immigration agent only asked me if I had another passport, and when that let me through the gate, he was satisfied. I find that odd, as there are emigration restrictions in NZ - you can't leave if you have unpaid parking tickets, for example.
