A step in the wrong direction, a difference of a hundredth of a second in a race, the rebound of the goalpost, a quarter of a percentage that falls outside the cutoff mark—minute differences thats are capable of changing lives
What a rapturous reception the victorious Indian T20 received in Mumbai! A sea of humanity drenched the team with affection and appreciation, with the rain too doing its bit. The programme at the Wankhede Stadium was heartwarming; it was difficult not to be moved by the delight of both the adoring crowd and the team.
The T20 World Cup ended on a fairytale note for India. It couldn’t have been scripted better: a match that the team pulled back from the brink, a match-winning performance by the hero who hadn’t delivered so far in the tournament, redemption for the coach who hadn’t been part of a World Cup-winning team, and a fitting swan song for four stalwarts—Rohit, Virat, Jadeja and Dravid—all bowing out from the international stage. No wonder the crowds were as delirious as they were.
