iOS 18 developer beta 2 releasing tomorrow, here are the two new features coming
Apple has released the second beta version of iOS 18 for developers on Monday, June 24, 2024. This update brings two new features: iPhone Mirroring and improved SharePlay screen sharing.
iPhone Mirroring allows users to display their iPhone screen on their Mac computer. This means you can see your iPhone's display on your Mac, get iPhone notifications on your Mac, and easily move files between the two devices.
The enhanced SharePlay screen sharing lets users draw on someone else's screen during a video call.
You can also control the other person's screen to help them with tasks. These new features were not included in the first beta release of iOS 18.
The update is expected to fix various bugs found in the initial beta version. However, the highly anticipated Apple Intelligence features showcased at WWDC earlier this month are still not included. Apple plans to add these AI-powered functions to the beta versions later this summer.
Developers can install iOS 18 beta 2 by going to Settings > General > Software Update on their iPhones. Those already running beta 1 should see the update available on Monday afternoon.
Unlike previous years, anyone can now try the iOS 18 beta without paying the $99 developer fee. However, it's important to back up your data before installing beta software, as it may contain bugs.
Along with iOS 18, Apple is expected to release new beta versions of iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, tvOS 18, visionOS 2, and watchOS 11 on Monday.
The public beta of iOS 18 will be available in July, with the final version launching for all users in September.
While these new features are coming to most countries, Apple recently announced that some iOS 18 functions, including Apple Intelligence, won't be available in the European Union this year due to regulatory issues.
