NEW DELHI: India secured a commanding 68-run victory over England in the semi-final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, setting up a title clash against South Africa on Saturday.
The match against England saw stellar performances from both Indian batters and bowlers, with Jasprit Bumrah's two wickets helping him achieve a significant milestone.

Bumrah's double-wicket haul brought his tournament tally to 13 wickets, making him the second-highest wicket-taker for India in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
He now sits behind teammate Arshdeep Singh, who currently leads the charts with 15 wickets. Despite not adding to his tally in the semi-final, Arshdeep remains a key weapon in India's bowling arsenal.

The match itself was a display of India's dominance. Opting to bat first, India posted a challenging total of 171/7, spearheaded by Rohit Sharma's brisk 57 and Suryakumar Yadav's explosive 47. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja provided valuable cameos to bolster the total.

England's chase never truly materialized. The usually explosive English batting lineup struggled to adapt to the conditions, crumbling to 103 all out in 16.4 overs. Harry Brook (25) and Jos Buttler (23) were the only batters to offer any resistance against a disciplined Indian bowling attack.
Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav were the pick of the Indian bowlers, both claiming three wickets apiece. Bumrah's two wickets, alongside economical spells from Pandya and Jadeja, choked the English chase and ensured a comfortable victory for India.
This victory means both India and South Africa will gear up for a thrilling final. India, having navigated the tournament with clinical precision, will face a formidable South African side vying for their maiden T20 World Cup title.
