Prithviraj unveils 'Forca Kochi FC' as Kochi's new football team for Super League Kerala

Prithviraj Sukumaran has officially announced the name of his Kochi-based football team set to compete in the inaugural Super League Kerala (SLK). Taking to Instagram, Prithviraj introduced 'Forca Kochi FC' as the team’s official name. The announcement follows a social media campaign where Prithviraj and his wife, Supriya, sought name suggestions from fans and followers.

In his Instagram post, Prithviraj expressed his excitement, stating, "We’re thrilled to introduce Kochi’s new force in football.As we step onto the field with this new name, the Force of Kochi is poised for success and endless possibilities. We unite with world-class local football talent, inspiring Kochi and embedding every fan in our legacy."

Prithviraj's entry into the football world has been met with enthusiasm, especially after he acquired a stake in the Kochi Pipers, making him the first film star to co-own a professional football team in Kerala.

The Super League Kerala will debut with six teams representing various regions: Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur, and Malappuram. The league's first season, spanning 45 days, is set to kick off in early September. This initiative aims to foster local football talent and elevate the sport's profile in Kerala.
On the professional front, Prithviraj's latest film was the comedy-drama 'Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil,' directed by Vipin Das. The movie featured a stellar cast including Basil Joseph, Nilkhila Vimal, and Anaswara Rajan in lead roles, and has been well-received by audiences and critics alike.
