Director Alphonse Puthren recently gave his first interview since disclosing his health challenges. He revealed that he was originally slated to play significant roles in movies like 'Trance' and 'Parava.'
Puthren told Kumudam.com that he had been cast as an antagonist alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon in the Fahadh Faasil starrer 'Trance.' Additionally, he was set to play the villain in 'Parava,' which ultimately went to Soubin Shahir later.
However, due to his health problems, Puthren had to withdraw from these roles. He mentioned that he has since taken time to address his issues and is now open to acting offers.
'Trance' is a neo-noir psychological thriller directed by Anwar Rasheed. The film stars Fahadh Faasil as an atheist motivational speaker whose life is turned upside down when a fraudulent group hires him to pose as a fake Christian pastor. The cast also includes Gautham Vasudev Menon, Dileesh Pothan, and Nazriya Nazim.

'Parava' is a 2017 comedy-drama directed by Soubin Shahir in his directorial debut. The film features Shane Nigam, Arjun Ashokan, Jacob Gregory, and Sreenath Bhasi. Dulquer Salmaan had a cameo appearance in the film.

Previously, Alphonse Puthren had shared that he was dealing with personal health issues, which led to his hiatus from mainstream filmmaking. However, he later deleted the post and has yet to announce his next project. His last directorial effort was 'Gold,' starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Deepti Sati, Mallika Sukumaran, Lalu Alex, Ajmal Ameer, and Baburaj. The film received mixed reviews and did not perform well at the box office.
