Kangana Ranaut is an actress who has always spoken about the portrayal of female characters on celluloid. The actress has confessed at several instances that she's rejected movies with big male stars when she thought that there was no meat for the female character and a heroine was just like a prop. Kangana who is currently busy with politics after winning the elections from Mandi, has now taken to her Instagram stories to speak about Meena Kumari.
The actress shared a clip from 'Pakeezah' of an iconic scene and she wrote, "I haven't followed much of Meena Kumari ji's work but I read a lot about her and she seemed hugely celebrated for her craft - this hair raising transition from grief to hysterical chuckle to sheer disillusionment is beyond supreme.
Apparently, in her days one didn't dare call other heroines actresses, media and film industry said they are all heroines. There is only one actress and that is Meena Kumari."

Interestingly, in this clip which was posted by a fan account, netizens noticed that there is a character called Bibboo Jaan. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a huge fan of Meena Kumari as he has confessed many a times, and netizens think that he took inspiration behind the name Bibboo Jaan (Aditi Rao Hydari's character from Heeramandi) from 'Pakeezah'.

For Kangana on the work front, she will be seen next in 'Emergency' which is also directed by her. After several delays, the film is all set to hit the screens on September 6, 2024.
