Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD is now the 6th highest grossing Indian film in North America, beating Aamir Khan’s Dangal and Ranveer Singh’s Padmaavat

Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD has become the 6th highest-grossing Indian film in North America, surpassing Aamir Khan’s Dangal and Ranveer Singh- Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat. With a total of $12.7 million in its first six days, the film continues its strong box office run, expecting further gains during the July 4th holiday.

As Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD continues its dream run at the box office, records keep on tumbling with every passing day. Just a few days back, the film had made its debut in the Top 10 list of Highest grossing Indian films in North America, first beating Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire (United States of America and Canada) to then jumping up to 8th position displacing Aamir Khan’s 2014 film PK.

And now, the film has jumped two more spots to claim the sixth position beating the likes of Aamir Khan’s Dangal and Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat on the 6th day of its full fledged release.
The film in its 5 day theatrical run, along with its premiere shows on 26th June, had grossed US $ 12 million, of which US $9,946,617 came from the USA and remaining from Canada. On the 6th day till evening, the film added another US $ 700,280 to its kitty, thus taking the total collection of the film to US $ 12.7 million, the number is expected to jump by the time night shows get over. And with this, the film has now crossed the total gross figure of Padmaavat which made US $ 12.17 million and Dangal which made US $ 12.39 million as per IMDB. The film is now behind only Baahubali 2- The Conclusion ( US $ 22 million), Pathaan ( US $ 17.45 million), Jawan ( US $ 15.23 million) , RRR (US $ 15.15 Million) and Animal US $ 15 million)
However, the journey for Kalki starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone is far from over. The film is expected to have a strong holdover in the second week as well in the circuit. And with the Federal holiday on 4th of July, the numbers are expected to see a major spike.
The mythological futuristic film has several special appearances from Dulquer Salmaan to SS Rajamouli to Ram Gopal Varma to Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur.
