SBI General appoints NC Jha as MD & CEO
Mumbai: SBI General Insurance Company Ltd. has appointed Naveen Chandra Jha as its new Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer. Jha was nominated by the parent company, State Bank of India, and succeeds Kishore Kumar Poludasu.
Naveen Chandra Jha has been associated with SBI since 1994 and has held several key positions during his tenure. Prior to his current role, he served as Deputy Managing Director at State Bank of India and also as Chief General Manager of Amaravati Circle, Andhra Pradesh.
Throughout his career, he has been involved in branch management, credit and risk management with a focus on SME Credit, HR & Administration, and retail banking.
He has excelled in various roles such as Regional Manager, Deputy General Manager (CDS), Deputy General Manager (Cadre Management), General Manager of Network, and Chief General Manager of the Circle.
During his tenure, the Amaravati Circle consistently performed well and contributed significantly to business development. For his exceptional service, Jha was selected for the Chairman’s Club in the Branch Manager category in 2005 and as Regional Manager in 2015.
Established in 2009, SBI General Insurance has expanded from 17 branches in 2011 to over 143 branches nationwide. In FY 2023-24, the company saw a 17% increase in Gross Written Premium (GWP), reaching Rs 12,731 crores. With a team of over 8,000 employees, SBI General Insurance uses a multi-distribution model that includes Bancassurance, Agency, Broking, Retail Direct Channels, and Digital collaborations, providing comprehensive service across the country.
