Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau did not want to talk about the Republican frontrunner on Monday.
During a live interview with the Huffington Post, the Canadian leader pivoted from the topic of Donald Trump to the topic of Cape Breton—an island that’s now satirically welcoming Americans who are considering fleeing the U.S. if the businessman is elected president.
VICE News’ Justin Ling tweeted about the exchange:
The response came on the heels of a CBS News “60 Minutes” interview in which Trudeau drew a distinction between his country’s approach to Syrian refugees and policy proposals floated by Donald Trump.
“Ultimately being open and respectful towards each other is a much more powerful way to diffuse hatred and anger than … big walls and oppressive policies,” Trudeau said on 60 Minutes.
Trudeau will be visiting Washington this week for a meeting with President Obama. The President and First Lady will also host a State Dinner in Trudeau’s honor, the first with a Canadian leader in about 20 years.
