BOSTON – There’s an old saying that it’s a small, small word. That holds especially true in the field of journalism. Two former high school friends reunited three years later in Boston, where they coincidentally crossed paths at the SPJ regional conference at Emerson College.

Free Speech Is Vital to the Public Interest
Journalists today received a refresher course on the importance of the first amendment. “You are the front lines and the implementers of freedom of speech, justice, and democracy,” said Nadine Strossen, professor at New York Law School and author of “HATE: Why We Should Resist It With Free Speech, Not Censorship.”
