Funders

Our work would not be possible without the vital contributions of a growing core group of funders whose generous support provides the foundation for all our efforts. Our funders include:

Funding our progress

The ICCT, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with headquarters in the United States, is grateful for the generous support of numerous funders who make it possible for us to advance and fulfill our mission to produce rigorous, objective, independent research, and analysis to inform public policy and advance progress toward a cleaner global transportation system. The ICCT is primarily funded by foundations. The ICCT receives funding from other sources including consulting services, government entities, individuals, and corporations. However, funding from corporations is subject to specific limitations, as the ICCT does not accept funding from any corporate entity that is the focus of our research, analysis, or advice to policymakers.

The ICCT welcomes support from new funders to help us continue to improve the environmental performance and energy efficiency of road, marine, and air transportation, to benefit public health and mitigate climate change. We follow a strict diligence process on acceptance of funds and review funding sources regularly. Acceptance of funding follows our principles of transparency and independence. This process ensures that our research and operational activities are based solely on their impact on our mission and vision.

Maximizing your impact

At the core of the ICCT, we are leaders in advancing global clean transportation policies, backed by our robust technical research and analysis. Our funding supports a broad spectrum of programmatic research aimed at decarbonizing the transportation sector by 2050, encompassing passenger and heavy-duty vehicles, marine, aviation, the development of low-carbon fuels, and more. Our budgets have grown consistently from $13.7 million in 2020 to $24.3 million in 2023, with a projected budget of $30.5 million for 2024, increasing our ability to have a greater impact.

Our efforts encompass critical operational areas — including finance, IT, communications, development, human resources, and administration/management — that are essential for disseminating innovative solutions to policymakers worldwide. Our team of professionals brings diverse skills in policy design, advanced technology, and economic analysis. Focusing on emergent areas like critical minerals, batteries, and charging infrastructure, this multidisciplinary approach ensures the ICCT remains at the cutting edge of policy and technology development, driving significant impacts in clean transportation globally.
