I once believed that inspirational writing was all about motivating people to act toward becoming better versions of themselves. I imagined it as a beacon of hope, showing that all would be well if only they adopted someone else’s blueprint for life. And oh my, how wrong I was!

I have been writing online about personal development for almost three years, and a profound realization struck me just in the past three weeks: inspiring people isn’t about making them “better” — it’s about helping them believe in themselves more profoundly.

Throughout those years of writing experience, I realized how challenging it can be to truly inspire when addressing broad, sweeping topics to a faceless crowd. It feels significantly more personal and genuinely more effective when I narrow my focus, connecting with one person at a time. I have come to believe that instead of telling everyone that life is about change and improvement, it is much more inspiring to assure someone struggling with self-doubt or hope in a specific area that life will be alright if they trust in their own potential and strength.
