GREENWOOD Dist. — Dr. Monique Mossop was first introduced to chiropractic care as a lacrosse player at Oklahoma Baptist University. A few weeks before she was getting ready to start her junior year season, she sprained her ankle. Determined not to let the injury slow her down, Mossop played on the ankle before it had time to heal. As the pain and discomfort only worsened, her mom suggested she see a chiropractor.

Mossop was skeptical at best. She only knew chiropractors as doctors “who cracked backs.”

Still, she followed her mother’s advice, and almost immediately after her first adjustment, her pain was gone.

That moment of experiencing the full healing power of chiropractic medicine changed Mossop’s life. Just two weeks ago at the start of April, Dr. Mossop launched the grand opening of Rapha Chiropractic in south Tulsa.

Dr. Mossop says providing Tulsans access to chiropractic care is her calling

Mossop describes the decision to open Rapha, not as a career choice, but as an answer to a larger calling.

Guided by her faith and a belief in holistic healing, Mossop says Rapha’s mission is to make chiropractic care accessible to all Tulsans. She says the practice will offer discounts to “everyday heroes”, including teachers, first responders, active duty military, and veterans.

Mossop says the chiropractic care provided at Rapha isn’t like the violent popping and cracking people may see in social media videos. “At Rapha Chiropractic, we use a very gentle, specific, and effective technique,” Mossop told The Black Wall Street Times.

“There is another way to get help from a chiropractor than being twisted and popped.”

Mossop hopes her practice will help Tulsans access preventative care to avoid pain and discomfort.

“Do you wait until you have a cavity to go to the dentist, or do you go because it’s a part of being healthy?” Mossop asked.

“Chiropractic care is the same way,” she said. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
