[#CentralRetailPeople] [#CentralRetailUpdate] Central Retail Unveils Strategic Approach to AI at "The Next Big Thing ASEAN" Summit Central Retail Corporation (CRC), represented by Khun Panchalee Weeratammawat, Chief People Officer, participated in The Next Big Thing ASEAN summit, held in Bangkok on June 25th, 2024. The summit, co-hosted by CIO.com, CSOonline.com, and IDC, explored "Humanising Technology for Purposeful Innovation" in Southeast Asia, with a focus on AI and Generative AI. As the only CPO invited to join the stage, Khun Panchalee was asked to share her experiences on the change management strategy to support AI implementation. In her presentation, Khun Panchalee emphasized CRC's unique vision of becoming an AI-driven, omni-intelligence retail enterprise and her philosophy of putting people in the center of transformation or, in her own words, "Digital Transformation is People Transformation". Khun Panchalee talked about how the human element should be placed as the cornerstone of successful AI adoption. "Empowering our workforce to embrace change is key," she stated. "Effective change management ensures our employees understand the technology's potential and develop the skills to thrive in an evolving landscape." Khun Panchalee also shared her experiences in defining the pragmatic ‘Plan-Do-Scale-Review’ approach. The "Plan" stage focuses on building a strong foundation. It involves fostering cross-functional collaborations, establishing an understanding of AI's capabilities and limitations, and implementing robust AI Governance policies. As the process moves to the "Do" stage, change management initiatives take center stage. She emphasized that clear communications among different groups of stakeholders, comprehensive training and upskilling programs for employees, and defining a clear scope for human and AI collaborations are pivotal here. These elements ensure a smooth transition during the "Scale" stage where larger areas of the organization are included in the scope. Finally, the "Review" stage focuses on gathering feedback for continuous improvement, managing expectations, and considering the ethical aspects of the evolving technologies. [#CentralRetailUpdate] On May 28th, at the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi, Central Retail Vietnam actively participated in the blood donation drive "We Do Good Deeds with Our Hearts" co-organised by the Royal Thai Embassy and the National Blood Institute of Vietnam. This initiative was a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen's Birthday on June 3rd, 2024. This activity also significantly benefited the community by addressing the critical need for blood donations. In line with their commitment to social responsibility and community well-being, 56 team members from Central Retail, along with the ambassadorial staff from the Thai Embassy, their families, representatives from Thai businesses operating in Vietnam, and over 150 Vietnamese volunteers, donated nearly 150 units of blood in this life-saving endeavor. Beyond mobilising blood donations, the company enriched the event experience by providing refreshments for all participants. Signature bakery items and fresh fruit juices were offered, allowing participants to enjoy Central Retail's offerings while fostering a sense of community. Furthermore, Central Retail Vietnam's participation underscored their dedication to social responsibility in Vietnam. Mr. Chalermchai Pornsiripiyakool, Head of CSR and International Corporate Affairs, represented the company and signed a letter of blessing to Her Majesty the Queen in the presence of H.E. Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam. [#CentralRetailUpdate] Thaiwatsadu under Central Retail marches ahead into border trade market, launching of the 81st branch ‘Thaiwatsadu Aranyaprathet’, expanding customer base to neighboring countries and boosting economy, real estate, and construction sectors Mr.Suthisarn Chirathivat, CEO of CRC Thaiwatsadu under of Central Retail, stated that one of Thaiwatsadu’s key strategies for business growth is expanding branches to cover all areas of the country. The latest branch, Aranyaprathet, is the 81st in Thailand, with an investment budget of 500 million baht. This is the first branch in Sa Kaeo province, and it will play a crucial role in stimulating the local economy, particularly in the border trade area. Thaiwatsadu recognizes the high potential of Aranyaprathet, which borders Cambodia, acting as the ‘Gateway to Indochina’ and an important hub for border trade and tourism in eastern Thailand.
