Oct 10, 2021 at 17:51 comment added FriendlyFire Detexify is not simply working. I myself prefer mathcha.io .
Sep 19, 2020 at 22:23 comment added inavda That's too bad :( maybe make a post and see if anyone is able to identify it?
Sep 18, 2020 at 20:57 comment added LaTeXereXeTaL @inavda Of course, repeatedly. It simply doesn't work.
Sep 18, 2020 at 4:50 comment added inavda @LaTeXereXeTaL , have you tried martin-thoma.de/write-math?
Sep 7, 2020 at 23:52 comment added LaTeXereXeTaL Given the disdain for this question, what other options are available after trying (and failing) with Detexify, LaTeX Font Catalog, Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List, typography identification sites, and general Googling (up to about two hours of cumulative time thus far) to identify one character? (I was going to ask on Meta, but the question is hated there too. Seems rather a dead end.)

Clarify that Detexify is a web software, not local
Mar 21, 2015 at 3:32 comment added hpekristiansen I could not make Detexify recognize my drawn \curvearrowright. I did a Google search for "Latex curved arrow" and found what I was looking for on a random page. My point is that Google is your friend, and that it could be considered as a fourth method.
Jul 17, 2014 at 7:30 comment added Clément Note to oneself: when it is in a more advanced level, think to speak of http://martin-thoma.de/write-math/.
May 8, 2014 at 18:23 comment added Henri Menke I don't know the current state, but Detexify has been mining bitcoins using a Javascript implemented bitcoin miner. (Source: blog.fefe.de/?ts=b31bb8ad)

Sep 2, 2012 at 20:06 comment added Tom Bombadil @DavidPoole: For Wikipedia articles, try clicking the [edit] button. It will show you the source, for math it is almost the same as LaTeX. It's a nice way to find out certain things, and also usefull for copying entire formulas ;)

Oct 31, 2011 at 18:24 comment added David Poole Detexify just led me to lambda. I struggled to find the meaning of "upside down V" for hours last night.
Oct 21, 2011 at 6:25 comment added Jake It's worth pointing out that the Select from the complete list! link in the results list will display the symbols list ordered by score, so it's more useful than the intimidating term complete list might suggest.
May 31, 2011 at 19:49 comment added Tara Detexify is particularly useful if you get it on a device with a touch screen (there are Android/iPhone apps for it) -- personally, I find it rather difficult to draw with my mouse, but finger works fine :)
