Top critical review
1.0 out of 5 starsSpectacular data failure
Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2017
This review will be ongoing and is subject to change as I investigate the problem. We were using this drive as a more secure method of storing critical data for a doctoral degree.
The device has had three spectacular failures. First, a word file suddenly reverted to an outdated replaced version of the same file, losing all work done on the file for a period of about 1.5 days. Second, the same kind of error occurred, losing a couple of hours of work. These first two losses we guessed might have been caused by some kind of very strange behavior on the part of Windows or MS Office, though as a programmer of several decades I could not quite imagine how.
The third loss was the complete disappearance of a folder. just created the day before.
We've used countless USB drives, and never before encountered such errors,. Not even old hard drives with failing sectors were able to create such insidious failures.
My phone call to customer service was met with contempt for my intelligence, with the operator telling me these drives never fail and the error was surely a software error. He said I should try a flash drive and see if I have the same problem. Quite frankly, using someone else's drie was exactly my solution too, though I would have loved to speak with a little brighter light within the adata company in hopes of learning what kind of error this was, and anything adata knows about the problem.
Having read this review, if you still want to put your data on this drive, all the best!
