Wow, the T705 delivers on performance!

Wow, the T705 delivers on performance!
These drives deliver exactly what they promise with the proper supporting hardware.I am running 2 of these drives; a 1TB OS drive and a 2TB game drive mounted on an Asus ROG Strix X670E-F mobo with a 7800X3D CPU. Right out of the box these drives were delivering maximum anticipated sequential read and write speeds, of 13+Gbps and 14+Gbps respectively. One thing that I think most people overlook is the fact that your OS drive can take advantage of Momentum Cache through the Crucial Storage Executive software. Enabling Momentum Cache will lower your top end sequential read and write speeds (see the 3rd pic) but it makes a HUGE boost to your random read and write speeds (which are the most imporant on an OS drive for it to boot quickly, load your login apps, and make the OS feel as snappy as possible). I definitely recommend enabling this feature for your boot drive. My game drive is seeing 14+gbps sequential reads and let me tell you, large map and level load times in AAA titles are insanely fast. I have once to be beaten into a game by another player since installing this drive.Overall, EXCELLENT drives and worth the money. Very very happy with my purchase.

Make sure you slot this into the Pcie5 slot of your motherboard! I have used this drive in an Intel z-790-f motherboard and an AMD x670-e motherboard, and it was detected right away, no issues at all. Linux (Fedora 40) sees the drives and installed no problem.

Speeds pretty much match what's advertised, so no issues there. Just make sure when you put this in a newer motherboard, that you pull the sticker off of the head sink pads when installing the drive, that can be easy to miss. These drives get hot so make sure it's installed properly.

The motherboard cooling solutions work pretty well, so the drive getting hot shouldn't be an issue.

Easy to install, cool, and stupidly fast. These guys will assure your cpu and data buses are never thirsty for bits. Rest assured that your 14th gen intel CPUs will receive all the data they need, even while they are baking in their own thermal paste trying to keep themselves from overheating during minecraft with shaders on.

I purchased a new computer and it only came with a single 1TB SSD.. Considering I'm a massive gamer I knew immediately it was going to be an issue.. I settled on an External drive with a fair bit of memory 8 TB's and that filled my needs for a while, but I noticed that some games had stuttering and lag, which considering the specs on my system shouldn't have been happening.. RTX4090, 64 GB of ram, etc etc etc etc.. So I narrowed down the likely causes to the External HDD, so I knew I needed to remedy that situation asap..

After searching around I settled on the Crucial T700,, highly rated, and reviewed.. The price is hefty but gaming isn't a cheap hobby, if you want to play like a pro, you gotta pay like a pro..

The install was super easy, plug and play pretty much, the only issue arose from trying to format the drive for use.. after a half hour and numerous youtube videos I discovered that I had forgotten to name the drive, after feeling like an idiot, I had my harddrive installed and ready to roll..

Download speeds have never been faster, I've always had issues with steam download times, normally stuff that my internet speeds should have done in minutes would take an hour or more, with the Crucial it's down to taking minutes again..

I honestly couldn't be happier with this product.. If had another slot on my board I'd pick up another and never have to worry about uninstalling and installing games again.. Extremely happy with this purchase..

Had no issues with installation, plug and play. Of course you better have a Gen5 slot or don't waste your money. Everyone saying it runs hot, you're not cranking 14k+ speeds without some heat. I think their boxes don't have enough circulation and with the M.2 sandwiched between the CPU and the GPU, that is a lot of heat in the box after it leaves those two components. It then needs to leave the box or you run the risk of it affecting other things. My setup, AIO liquid cooler on the 7950 CPU, pulling the heat out of the area exhausted thru the top of the box and Vertical mounted 4090 GPU giving this drive more space for air flow between the board and GPU... and yes I got the white one to match. :) Buying a second one, as my board has (2) Gen5 slots.

Breakneck speed! This thing works exactly as advertised and pairs perfectly with my MSI Z790 motherboard. Never seen numbers so high in CrystalDisk Mark

I had an unexpected sale and got a T500 for a cheap rate, a 1TB model. Notably, I hadn't yet turned on over-provisioning so these numbers are fairly raw with the apr08 firmware.

Nearly double the speed increase on Sequential Reads/writes.
~56% increase in the Q1T1 test
Fairly modest gains in the random tests (though nearly 200MB improvement on Q32T1)

This drive for me is primarily for my sampled instruments in a Digital Audio Workstation environment where one instrument might be 1GB and being able to swap presets quickly is a must.

I will say that my initial test (per-overprovisioning) of the t700 didn't look anywhere near as stellar, but I no longer have that result.

Installation was easy, however it would NOT fit in my motherboard without removing the heatsink. MSI provides instructions at removing the rubber rings etc, but even after that it just raised up too high. The motherboard heat sinks seem to do just fine, so I'm not worried. My #1 complaint being that the Crucial Storage Executive has recently become terribly, rediculously slow. (Can take 3min to load the dashboard from a cold start) And firmware update operations are also similarly slow AF.

I ding it a bit here because I'm not 100% sure that the drive is worth the price bump over the T500. I got my T500 1TB on sale for a little over a hundred, though the 2TB model was ~$219 so I guess the price at the time of writing is expensive and possibly worth it, I just don't know that everyone has a use case for it.

If you're doing alot of music and video editing, I can see how this would save ALOT of time loading up new projects or clips however. Think carefully about how much static data you're actually loading--most games ever made probably don't need this kind of speed. However that may change once PCIE5 becomes more common. So this is really a niche drive product IMHO.

First off its GEN 5... Blazing fast. 4 TB of storage... Read & Write speeds are amazing. Worth every penny. I installed this on my Laptop and added a thermal pad to control the heat. When I build my new PC I will buy this again, very impressed.

Usually if I gave you 3 computers with 3 types of storage devices like SSD/SDHDD/and M.2 for games and web browsing then you'd have a hard time outside of workstation tasks figuring out which computer had which storage device.

With PCI 5 you actually feel it, the two best examples I have for the moment I noticed the massive difference between all previous tech was when I played Tarkov on personal game that makes a server on your pc and I had no hitching, the ai bots worked flawlessly, and there wasn't a single stutter outside the loading screen. The second example was when I played Alan Wake 2 and every load screen was immediate, there where no periods of wait outside the first 4 seconds the game took to open up.

Look into PCI 5 storage as the prices go down, its absolutely worth it!
