    Slick fingerprint and password security software that installs from the drive for Windows, Android, and Mac. Fingerprint recognition is solid. Drive is small 3 1/4 x 2 1/8 x 3/16 inch. Comes with both USB C to USB C and USB A to USB C cables. Drive doesn't seem to get overly hot when in use. Price has come down on the 2 TB drives to where it is the best price point.

    After receiving the Samsung T7 external SSD drive yesterday of course I wanted to test it out with my electronics as some people had some negative experiences with it. It worked with my Samsung Galaxy S21 phone. The Android software link is only for older model phones, but don't feel I need it anyway as I don't plan to keep anything sensitive on it. Then used it with my older iPad Pro, I didn't try to use Mac software link. Worked just fine. I haven't tried it with MacBook Air M1 chip, but expect as it worked with iPad Pro it should be fine. I used it on my older Windows 10 Pro laptop and held my breath as some had problems with the Windows Pro version, but again plug and play and it worked fine right off the bat. I transferred data no problem. Speed was nice. This drive is quiet. So far love it! Will update this review if there are problems.

    I like this brand of SSD, its capacity, its size, and its price. What I don’t like are (1) the fact that my PC could not see it right out of the box–I had to query an online bot to tell me how to assign it a drive letter, (2) the text of its instruction booklet was too tiny to be read, and (3) there is no instruction that I could find anywhere for addressing the constantly flashing blue icon on its top surface.

    Update: Got a replacement of the same product and still experience the same problem. The restarting seems to happen only in read mode. I can write big files or a lot of files without problems. I dumped almost 1.5TB to the drive in one time and it worked just fine.

    I have the 2TB version of this SSD. I have been using it as my daily driver. The performance is as good as claimed in the spec when you use it for small files or as a backup that doesn't require large file transfer at a time.

    The drive tends to stop working and restart itself very often when you have to transfer a lot of files or a large file. It happened a couple times when I was watching videos from it. I thought it was a heat problem so I put a fan on it to cool it down. Didn't fix the problem. I changed from USB C to USB A port hoping that slower speed might make a difference, nope. I tried it with 3 different powerhouse computers (Razer Blade 15, Lenovo P53 and an Intel Xenon workstation). Nothing fixes the problem. The firmware is up-to-date and I used the cables that came with the drive. I also tried the different cables but still didn't fix the problem.

    I'm getting a replacement now to see if I got the defective one or it's the design flaw. I saw another comment on here with the same problem and the replacement didn't fix it in that case. I will test mine when it comes in.

    Love the performance and the fingerprint reader but this flaw makes it useless to me.

    Ich bin mir manchmal unsicher, ob Hardware unter Linux unterstützt wird.
    Dies ist hier der Fall.
    Man muss die Fingerabdrücke mit Windows/MacOS/Android einrichten, kann die Festplatte dann aber auch unter Linux entsperren.
    Konkret getestet mit Kubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu Server 22.04 und Windows 11.
    Vorformatiert ist extFAT, habe es so gelassen.
    Würde gerne experimentieren mit anderen Dateisystemen, dafür ist mir das Ding aber zu teuer :-)

    Das Gerät an sich ist extrem leicht und klein (steht ja in der Artikelbeschreibung - ich war trotzdem überrascht).
    Dachte zunächst, das Kabel wäre kaputt, hatte es aber nur nicht richtig reingesteckt (auf seiten der Festplatte). Ist auch kein Problem; ganz im Gegenteil: das Kabel sitzt nicht locker.

    Gestern in Betrieb genommen und erstmal getestet ob alle Bits und Bytes vorhanden sind. Alles wie erwartet und okay.

    Dann habe ich mal einen Speedtest laufen lassen. An die angepriesenen "bis zu 1050MB/s" bin ich bei weitem nicht rangekommen. Auf diese theoretischen ins Blaue reinfantasierten Laborwerte sollte man sich nicht versteifen.

    Die Raelität sieht in Wirklichkeit (;-)) anders aus. Ich hatte das T7 Touch an einen Desktop-PC mit eingebauter USB3.0-Addon-Karte getestet. USB3 war also verfügbar, aber eben nicht USB3.2. Wer das hat kann ja mal seine Ergebnisse posten. Hier meine:

    Fazit: trotz der ernüchternden Testwerte ist das T7 Portable "gefühlt" sehr flott und dank der Kapaizität von 2TB sowie der Minigröße als Dauerbegleiter sehr gut geeignet.
