Change Wi-Fi network name

To rename your Nest Wifi or Google Wifi network name:

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Tap Favorites  and then Wifi  and then Network settings .
  3. Enter a new network name.
  4. Tap Save.
  • Network names must be between one and 31 characters.
  • Make sure there isn't an accidental space at the beginning or end of your network name.

Reuse an older network name and password

If you reuse a network name and password from an old router, you won't have to reconnect devices that were previously on the network.

Note: If your old router is still broadcasting a Wi-Fi network, you may observe odd behavior because some devices will be connected to your Wifi point and others connected to your older router. You can enable bridge mode on your old router to fix this.
