On Reddit, when I hover over the avatars of users in the left edge of comments, I get an annoying tooltip that prevents me from what I really want to do, which is collapse and expand comments.

How to use uBlock Origin to block that?

also consider using "old" reddit, it is missing most of the misfeatures of this new design... Commented Mar 5 at 13:32
  • @htmlcoderexe It's also missing most of the good features of the not quite as new, but still newer than old design. (Awesome username btw)

Update:

This answer no longer works as of April 2024 because Reddit seemed to completely revamp their UI. The new 2024 UI doesn't seem to respect the "default card / compact" setting in settings.

new.reddit.com still points to the "previous new reddit", and this answer works there.

Original answer:

Open uBlock Origin settings, my filters, and put the following then apply changes

reddit.com##[id^="SubredditInfoTooltip--"][id$="hover-id"]
reddit.com##[id*="UserInfoTooltip"][id$="hover-id"]

Credit goes to this Reddit thread.

  • you're right, and it's not chrome too, it's every browser. It's because reddit updated their UI again. I updated the answer.

Try this filter:

www.reddit.com##faceplate-hovercard > div:nth-child(2)

While it blocks the contents of the card, a small empty tooltip does show up that I haven't managed to get rid of yet.
