  • Have you chkdsk-ed / fsck-ed em? It is theoretically possible one got damaged during shipping.

    How are the drives connected? Are they connected to two different motherboards? Or with different cables/adapters etc.? Have you tried to test them by connecting one by one to exactly the same configuration of other components? Commented Apr 27, 2023 at 7:37
  • @Gantendo I have not used chkdsk (or fsck; on Windows 10, but could use WSL if needed). I was under the impression that formatting and using the extended SMART test would be sufficient. @KamilMaciorowski the drives are both connected to the same motherboard, using the same type of cables, and both are connected to the same power supply. What I'm considering is switching their cables and checking again. Commented Apr 27, 2023 at 7:44
