Oct 16, 2022 at 17:55 comment added NotTheDr01ds @user173972 You can use WSL1 if you can't get around it any other way, but I think you are just a simple step away (hopefully) from having this working. The info you indicates that your CPU supports the virtualization needed, but it just isn't turned on in the BIOS. Try these steps and see if you get further.

Oct 16, 2022 at 14:02 comment added user173972 Downgrading to WSL1 worked for this user and others that posted after them. Should I try doing the same?
Oct 16, 2022 at 13:55 comment added user173972 @NotTheDr01ds, not sure if this is relevant but my system info summary says Hyper-V - VM Monitor Mode Extensions Yes, Hyper-V - Second Level Address Translation Extensions Yes, Hyper-V - Data Execution Protection Yes, but Hyper-V - Virtualization Enabled in Firmware No.
Oct 16, 2022 at 13:46 comment added user173972 @NotTheDr01ds, I got to step 6 and chose Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, but install failed with error: 0x80370102 Please enable the Virtual Machine Platform Windows feature and ensure virtualization is enabled in the BIOS. (I've added a screenshot) :(

Oct 16, 2022 at 13:01 comment added NotTheDr01ds @user173972 That's correct. Try working through the steps in Manual installation steps for WSL and see if we can figure out exactly where it's failing.
Oct 16, 2022 at 12:56 comment added user173972 Thanks @NotTheDr01ds, I've added the screenshot to my post as an edit. So it hasn't yet been installed?

Oct 16, 2022 at 12:45 comment added NotTheDr01ds @user173972 So just for clarity, a wsl --install? At this point, does wsl -l -v show anything? (Again, remember to edit into the question since the results may be difficult to read in a comment) -- Thanks!

Oct 16, 2022 at 11:55 comment added user173972 Thanks @Ramhound, I have 110GB of disk space remaining.
Oct 16, 2022 at 10:26 comment added harrymc You should be installing Ubuntu from the Microsoft Store, not PowerShell, if Windows 10 is up to date. Check also your disk free space.

Oct 16, 2022 at 7:36 comment added Ramhound "space requirements" is talking about your physical storage not the amount of system memory your device has. You should edit your question to indicate the version of Windows 10. This might be helpful
