    In python 3 you would get TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for +: 'dict_items' and 'dict_items' ... you should encapsulate each dict with list() like: dict(list(x.items()) + list(y.items()))

    @justSaid itertools.chain(x.items(), y.items()) could also be used. Commented Jan 7, 2022 at 20:21
