25$\begingroup$ Even hardcore two pack a day smokers generally have enough common sense to know when not to light up. The one exception I know of is when I worked for a company that built a device that went into the flames of a spewing failed oil rig. Nobody previously had studied what exactly comes out. I called the person we had sent to help with our device and asked whether these people are as crazy as depicted. He replied that no, these were rock solid workers, but then said "wait a second." A guy whose clothing completely reeked of petroleum had just walked past, sat down, and calmly lit a cigarette. $\endgroup$– David HammenCommented Jan 23, 2023 at 14:55

1$\begingroup$ @TheRocketfan I was sure you would - it is just annoying that SE won't allow a low rep user to make a small change. I understand not allowing any changes without approval, but why limit to only large changes? Makes no sense. $\endgroup$– manassehkatz-Moving 2 CodidactCommented Jan 23, 2023 at 18:42

1$\begingroup$ Might also be worth noting that these were military pilots - even if they were chainsmoking fiends, they would already have been used to time and place restrictions. $\endgroup$– fectinCommented Jan 24, 2023 at 21:30

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. orbital-mechanics), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
