3$\begingroup$ I think the word "livery" covers the things you are excluding, but "special liveries" is more what you intend, hence JetBlue calls them "special liveries" $\endgroup$– BrendanLuke15Commented Apr 30, 2021 at 16:01

4$\begingroup$ One reason for not using any paint on rockets or keeping it to a minimum is paint adds weight. $\endgroup$– FredCommented May 1, 2021 at 5:09

$\begingroup$ Livery makes sense when you need to identify one instance or group of a vehicle, among a multitude of otherwise identical vehicles. Unfortunately, we are very far from that situation with rockets. They do tend to have stylistic additions, to look good, where this can be done safely, conveniently and most importantly with minimal mass penalty. Example: The SpaceX Falcon 9 with its black-and-white scheme, including the chevrons formed by the landing legs. $\endgroup$– CuteKItty_pleaseStopBArkingCommented Nov 30, 2021 at 11:41

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. orbital-mechanics), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
