What was the Smart Data Discovery Challenge?

The Department for Business & Trade, Challenge Works, the Open Data Institute (ODI) and Smart Data Foundry called on individuals, innovators, entrepreneurs, academia and civil society to join us in identifying innovative ways in which Smart Data could make a difference for consumers, small businesses and wider society.

From October 2023 to March 2024, we specifically sought out the most promising cross-sector Smart Data use case ideas in the following areas:

• Energy
• Financial services
• Home buying
• Retail
• Transport

In March 2024, we announced the four winners: Mealia, Rodeo, Smarter Contracts and Smartlayer.AI.
