Incident

Users not receiving 2FA codes

Issue Summary:
On Monday March 25, 2024 at 6:00 AM PDT to around 8:00 AM PDT, some users did not receive two-factor authentication (2FA) codes via SMS and couldn't log into Slack.

We determined this was caused by an issue with an upstream 2FA provider. We monitored communications from the provider and confirmed Slack users could successfully sign in once the upstream issue was resolved.

12:26 PM PST

Our upstream provider has reported that the issue with receiving two-factor authentication (2FA) SMS codes has been resolved. Users should be able to receive new codes to successfully log in. We appreciate your patience while we sorted this out.

9:25 AM PST

Our upstream provider is reporting that SMS delivery has returned to a normal state with most new messages sending without a queueing delay. Messages that were requested up to this point may be delayed and delivery should occur over the next several hours as our provider's backlog is cleared.

We'll share another update once delivery has returned to normal.

7:56 AM PST

Users are unable to receive two-factor authentication (2FA) SMS codes as our upstream provider is having issues with the delivery. We are monitoring the situation and will update once the issue is resolved.
