Ed. Zublin AG, Pipe Jacking Division connects to the largest Live Sewer in Singapore under extreme complex conditions. It’s the first of its kind connection to the Public Utilities Board’s ID 6.0m Trunk Sewer under live conditions with exposures to hydraulic overpressure during heavy rain peaks. The risks arising from working in live sewer conditions are versatile and require meticulous planning and close Coordination within the Project Team and the associated stakeholders. The Scope of Work included: -             Construction of a 35m deep shaft, ID 10.5m on top of the ID 6.0m live sewer -            Installation of an Emergency Flooding System -            Strengthening the existing ID 6.0m live sewer to cope with hydraulic overpressure during construction -            Connecting to the ID 6.0m live sewer using remote-controlled, high-pressure water jet cutter -            Construction of a manhole on top of the new connection -            Commissioning and reinstatement Works started in May 2022 and the substantial completion was achieved in November 2023 with some reinstatement works remaining. Clear communication, precise coordination and an excellent teamwork, with everyone involved pulling in the same direction, were key to success. The Project was delivered safely, on time and within budget, according to our “WORK ON PROGRESS” spirit. Thank you to PUB’s ongoing trust in our expertise and capabilities.

Ed. Zublin AG, Singapore Branch is pleased to share that we have successfully completed the Shore Crossing Microtunnel (MT) drive on the OAL – Ostsee Anbindungsleitung, Project in Germany. The Shore Crossing is required to connect an approximately 50-kilometre-long pipeline that will run from the planned LNG terminal in the port of Mukran to the German gas pipeline network in Lubmin. The shore crossing in Lubmin has been successfully completed by our multi-national Team earlier this year. Tunneling in Mukran started on 5th October and was completed as scheduled on 25th October 2023, despite a 4 days stoppage due to a massive storm flood with gusts of wind up to 120 km/h. The ID2000mm Microtunnel has a length of 352m and was driven through sandy / hard clay formation and an approximately 60 m long stretch of chalkstone, from the entry shaft within the Port of Mukran to the final position in the Baltic Sea. The AVN2000 Herrenknecht TBM will be recovered from the seabed via a barge within the next days. Microtunnel key figures: TBM Drive speed:                           60 – 70 mm/ min. Daily performance:                        24 m / day MT depth at End Point:                 19 m below Sea Level Difference in height:                      Entry Pit to Exit Pit 13.40 m Trenchless Shore Crossings are constructed where an open cut approach is not feasible due to environmental, geological or any other constraints. Shore Crossings are used to bring pipelines and cables from the sea to land and as Intake and Outfall Tunnels for Power and Seawater Desalination Plants. Adding the Mukran (and Lubmin) Microtunnel to our list of successfully completed Shore Crossings on 3 different continents so far, demonstrates our capabilities in planning and delivering safe, environmentally sound and efficient projects helping to reduce the impact on our environment in the spirit of WORK ON PROGRESS. Congratulations to all involved for completing this project safely, on time and on budget.
