On 8 June, our Senior Marina Director, James Roy hosted delegates from Korea’s Siheung City Hall, including Mayor Lim Byeong-taek and his team. During the 2-hour presentation and marina tour, James shared successes and challenges in operating a marina and took them around our back-of-house. Mayor Lim and his team even witnessed firsthand how we launch yachts from our dry stack. We are incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to host our Korean guests and to be recognised as a marina industry leader. This would not have been possible without the support of our Members, boaters, stakeholders and staff.

The recent oil spill on 14 June was an unprecedented case of oil spillage in the waters of Singapore. Our dedicated team and volunteers had been working tirelessly over the Hari Raya long weekend to clean up the oil spill and deployed oil booms to minimise the spread into the marina, and we have also actively engaged relevant government authorities to support our efforts to clean the Marina area. A big thank you to our volunteers who made all the difference in our clean-up efforts.     As stewards of the ocean, we recognise the importance of a healthy underwater eco-system, and we are working closely with our Eco-advisors to monitor and protect our Marina’s biodiversity.

Our Regional General Manager, Jonathan Sit, recently shared his insights on building a successful marina in Asia on a panel at the recent Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit held in Hong Kong. Joined by distinguished panelists Ekrem REYHANCIOGLU of PORALU MARINE and Cassy Wong of KIMDA, they also discussed the evolving models of marinas, challenges in aligning synergies between the industry and governmental policies, and the shift towards eco-friendly practices within the industry. Organised by SuperYacht Times, the 2-day event was attended by over 200 delegates from Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe and was a great networking opportunity for the Asian and global superyacht community.

The road to a more sustainable future is paved with innovative solutions and collaborations. At ONE15 Marina, we are thrilled to be part of this monumental stride to further the environmental sustainability efforts on Sentosa with Sentosa Development Corporation. For 6 months, plastic waste from our operations was diverted to contribute to the 4 tonnes of plastic waste collected. These were repurposed into sustainable road material, and eventually paved the way for an eco-friendly 124m road near Sentosa Sensoryscape.   No matter how minute, every contribution plays a vital role in collectively shaping a better, more sustainable world. 🌿

Solar panels can be built not just on roofs…   We worked with local start-up Raitan Pte Ltd to launch a pilot to test new solar pavement technology at Siloso Skywalk, an 11-storey high pedestrian bridge at the doorstep of our national monument Fort Siloso. This marks our first attempt at unconventional solar technologies, following the completion of conventional roof solar installations across 46 locations on Sentosa last year. Great that it serves a dual purpose and fits in well with the overall experience.   Our road near Sensoryscape is made from something else…   Thanks to a collaboration with Gammon Construction Limited and Magorium Pte. Ltd., a local start-up, we constructed a 124 m road near Sentosa Sensoryscape with 100% NewBitumen made from 4 tonnes of plastics waste contributed by businesses on island, including Far East Hospitality Management (S) Pte Ltd, W Singapore - Sentosa Cove, ONE15 Marina, Skyline Luge, Camelot and Sentosa Cove Resort Management. This replaces the amount of traditional crude-derived material which would otherwise be required to pave this road.     Thanks to our partners and island businesses for partnering us to test and demonstrate sustainable technologies which are important for us as a leading leisure and tourism destination.   #Sentosa #DiscoveryNeverEnds #SustainableSentosa
