The future of heating technology. It's electric.

Om oss

Electrification of heating processes is a key enabler for a fossil-free industry. As a world leader in sustainable heating technology, Kanthal collaborates with energy-intensive industries such as steel, cement, petrochemical and battery to develop electric heating solutions that help minimizing their carbon footprint. Kanthal has provided industry-leading electric heating technology to the world since 1931, when metallurgist Hans von Kantzow founded the company in Hallstahammar, Sweden, based on his discovery of the FeCrAl (iron-chrome-aluminum) alloy. Over the years we’ve built the largest product range of resistance heating solutions for industrial applications on the market. Our ability to develop and melt specific alloys and convert them into wire, strip, tubes and plates allows us to offer heating materials as well as heating elements and complete heating solutions to our customers. Today we’re a truly global company with production units and sales offices all around the world. Take a look at our career opportunities!

During Jernkontoret´s panel at Almedalen in Sweden, the focus was on sustainability, innovation and demand. How can the Swedish steel industry contribute to the transition and competitiveness? Discussions centered around the shift towards more sustainable production, investments in green technologies, and how global customer demands for low-emission steel have evolved in recent years, influencing strategic decisions within the industry. The role of the government, EU, and international organizations in ensuring the continued competitiveness of the Swedish steel industry was also discussed. Nicolai Schaaf, Sustainability Manager at Kanthal, a part of Alleima, was one of the panel participants highlighting the role of electrifying industrial heating processes as part of the global industrial transformation. "Kanthal helps various sectors, including the steel industry, in electrifying their processes to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. As global industries aim for emission-free value-chains, electrification of industrial heating plays a crucial role.” "Alleima is part of the journey ourselves and already have a high degree of electrification and are now focusing on replacing the remaining combustion processes." Other participants in the panel included Christina Friborg, Head of Sustainability at SSAB, and Niklas Wass, President of the Stainless Europe business line at Outokumpu. Also present were Ida Drougge political party Moderaterna, Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist political party Centerpartiet, Marie Barrling, Head of Sustainability and Communications at the Mellansvenska Handelskammaren (Chamber of Commerce for Central Sweden), and Annika Roos ♦️´s Managing Director Jernkontoret.
