During their midyear company meeting, the #HemoCue South Africa team welcomed Jen from Naturally Grounded for an engaging workshop on mental health and stress management, in line with their DE+I focus this quarter. The workshop explored the body's response to stress, the dangers of chronic stress, heart-rate variability as a stress indicator, and practical techniques for managing stress and anxiety. Associates had the opportunity to have their stress levels tested, and the results underscored the importance of mastering these stress management skills. While not every technique will work for everyone, the session provided valuable takeaways for each attendee. Now, the team feels better equipped to handle daily stressors and is ready to embrace a more balanced life!

HemoCue – at the time of care
Om oss
Founded over 40 years ago, HemoCue is a global leader in the field of diagnostics known as near-patient, or point-of-care testing (POCT). HemoCue offers POCT for hemoglobin, glucose and HbA1c as well as total and differential white blood cell count. Since the beginning, our focus has been on accuracy in every detail. We offer lab-quality results at the point of care without sacrificing the accuracy and precision offered by a central clinical lab. Healthcare providers around the world rely on the immediate results so they can make informed decisions when they need them the most. Today, four HemoCue tests are performed every second worldwide. Tests that are fast and easy to perform – by anyone. Because when it comes to caring for people, we refuse to compromise. HemoCue is proud to be part of Danaher. Danaher is a global science and technology leader. Together we combine our capabilities to accelerate the real-life impact of tomorrow’s science and technology to improve human health. HemoCue’s distributor in Australia and New Zealand, #Radiometer Pacific, recently donated several #HemoCue Hb analyzers and microcuvettes to the Canberra-based Paediatric Surgical Specialist Team (PSST) of volunteers. The PSST provides children with life-saving surgical care in the Soloman Islands. The team, led by Professor David Croaker, is made up of highly motivated volunteer surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses who have been traveling to the Soloman Islands since 2015 to perform operations and care for children who have been born with life-threatening deformities, both pre-and post-operatively. Pictured is Liz Hearne from PSST and clinicians Dr Jennifer Sigoto and Dr Ram Dhari Solomon, part of the anesthetic team at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara.

HemoCue recently participated in Devex’s event #DevexCheckUp at the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva. Lena Wahlhed, Director of Alliance Development, was on stage to discuss the importance of accelerating innovation in global health with a focus on health equity and innovative testing in low- and middle-income countries. “The best innovation is the one that lasts, that is available, affordable and accessible for its intended users and usage. Attending Devex at the sidelines of WHA gave a boost in confidence that, together, we are making progress. Listening to the Ministers of Health from Indonesia and Sierra Leone sharing outcomes of public health programs and the road to implementation, where every individual counts, not just as numbers but as real people, and all the organizations sharing their wealth of knowledge and emphasis on reach, was truly inspiring!” says Lena. Check out parts of the interview below!
Tune in to hear how Devex explored essential diagnostics with Hemocue, focusing on health equity and innovative testing in LMICs. #DevexEvent #DevexCheckUp @ #WHA77 with HemoCue AB

The month of June recognizes both World Blood Donor Day and Youth Month in South Africa. To celebrate, #HemoCue South Africa partnered with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) by hosting groups of teenagers at their headquarters as part of their Bring-A-Teenager-to-Work initiative. The HemoCue South Africa team was excited to be involved in these events, which aimed to raise awareness about blood donation and educate future donors. We had the opportunity to speak on the critical role of hemoglobin testing in anemia screening and how HemoCue supports blood banks and various healthcare settings globally. Associates Desiree Erasmus, Masego Matseke and Mapelo Pilusa shared their testimonials and career insights, highlighting their journeys. Their stories were both inspiring and empowering for the next generation. Thank you SANBS for this wonderful collaboration! #WBDD2024 #YouthMonth

Radiometer Pacific, HemoCue’s distributor in Australia and New Zealand, recently hosted delegates from the Ministries of Health from Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, and Kiribati, at their head office in Melbourne. The visit served as a great opportunity to provide a hands-on demonstration of the proper usage and easy maintenance of the HemoCue® Hb 201 and HemoCue® Hb 301 Systems, systems that they currently use for hemoglobin point-of-care testing across the islands. Engaging directly with our customers is crucial for us, as it helps us better understand their needs, address any challenges firsthand, and provides an opportunity to strengthen relationships. These interactions are essential for ensuring we continue to meet their expectations and deliver exceptional service. Thank you for visiting! #HemoCue #Radiometer

Today, June 14, is World Blood Donor Day. This day serves to celebrate and thank blood donors for their voluntary life-saving gifts of blood and raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products. This year is even more special as World Blood Donor Day celebrates its 20th anniversary! ❤️ Did you know that approximately 120 million blood donations are collected every year globally? In total, 79 countries collect more than 90% of their blood supply from voluntary unpaid blood donors. A blood service that gives patients access to safe blood and blood products in sufficient quantity is a key component of an effective health system. Will you be attending this year’s ISBT Congress in Barcelona, Spain? Don’t forget to visit us at booth #E37 to talk about blood products, blood safety, and blood donation screening.
