This innovative Swedish startup is tackling the global waste crisis head-on with their AI-powered app that helps people recycle correctly. 🏆Last year, Bower won Google.org's Impact Challenge and received both funding and a Fellowship, which meant a dedicated team of 5 Googlers working full-time, pro bono, to help them develop a state-of-the-art computer vision model. This model can accurately identify product types and materials, then provides users with local recycling instructions to help anyone recycle correctly, no matter where they are. From a local spark to a global flame: Our mission just expanded, and Bower is now live in over 170 countries! 🌎 We're, to say the least, thrilled to be launching the world's first sorting and recycling app to boost waste knowledge and trash sorting skills for everyone, everywhere in the world. Back in 2019, we had a simple yet grand dream: a world free from trash. Knowing that many countries are struggling with trash sorting, with only one tenth being recycled, we became determined to drive the change. We started small, learned big, and expanded our vision to the Nordics and then to the UK. But then, our ever-ambitious CEO Suwar Mert dropped a question that stopped us all in our tracks: "Why not go global?" You could've heard a pin drop. Fast forward through months of relentless dedication, a few too many nuts to crack, and yes, a truckload of coffee – and not to forget the amazing support from Google.org, with both funding and fellowship – here we are! We're not just an app; we're a worldwide movement, making it possible to sort waste and get rewards, no matter where you’re located in the world. We’re thrilled and ready to make a true impact, together.
