4Actually kinect and its rivals require using your hand, only they don't require to hold a controller/joystick/gun. Now in the movie they don't show what they have meant by "using your hand" but I always assumed some sort of a neural connnection.– mg30rgCommented Jul 20, 2015 at 14:42

3We're almost all the way to that point, too.. but I found myself recently musing about this exact point when I realized I could walk into the room, speak a few words, make a few gestures, play a dance game, make a few more gestures/incantations to shut the system down, all without touching a damn thing.– JoshCommented Jul 20, 2015 at 16:44

1In addition to kinect, there are a bunch of supposedly mind controllers that have been floating around for several years. For example Emotiv. I think they've backed off the idea that they'd be good enough for playing games however.– Matt BurlandCommented Jul 20, 2015 at 17:17

15This scene also correctly predicts what Elijah Wood would look like in 2015.– Mark PetersCommented Jul 20, 2015 at 17:51

2I had a Power Pad for my NES in 1986 or so. You used your feet instead of your hands. I also had the Power Glove, which used your hand in a different way.– Wad CheberCommented Jul 21, 2015 at 1:27

A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
Type the name of the science fictional or fantastical work your question is about (Example:
star-wars
).For questions not specific to any one work, use concept tags to describe your question (Example:
story-identification
).Tagging rules:
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. story-identification), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
