Jul 27, 2014 at 16:52 comment added BMWurm @iliveunderawesomerock You're right in saying it is not impossible to find a place and a time (Molly alludes to such an episode on the day of the 3rd task in GoF), yet the books are written from Harry's point of view, so if he doesn't think about it or directly witnesses it (and finds it important enough to mention [like walking in on Dean and Ginny was important to him because of his own feelings towards her]) we do not see it in the books. However that does not mean it is not happening; just that Harry has loads of other things on his mind all the time: school work and not dying, mostly...

Jul 11, 2014 at 19:41 comment added Pobrecita This doesn't seem like a real answer, I'm not saying downvote I am just saying if Ron, Hermione and Harry can sneak away to visit a dog and do their adventures unseen then someone else or even them could sneak away and do something else not kosher unseen by people. Remember there are secret areas to hogwarts(marauders map: entrance to Hogsmeade) and there is the room of Requirements.
Jul 10, 2014 at 9:00 comment added willeM_ Van Onsem @WhatRoughBeast: Well in the third book, the quidditch afterparty went somehow too loud. McGonagall found that out somehow. So perhaps the common room is not that private after all. And furthermore isn't 3 AM more or less the time when house elves clean up the common room?
Jul 9, 2014 at 23:17 comment added WhatRoughBeast And, at least in the movies, the common areas have nice comfortable couches. At 3 AM, who would know?
