Star fleet exploration is potentially hazardous so I would expect crew members to take similar actions. It is unusual that a member of the bridge crew dies, the red/yellow shirted security guy may leave a message, but it probably isn't to members of the bridge crew so wouldn't be relevant to the series. Notable exceptions would be Spock's death and Data's. Neither of whom left a message afaik.
