Aug 18, 2023 at 3:40 | comment | added | Vineet | SPOILERS: The last book makes it pretty clear his love for Lily made him against Voldemort, and by extension, his Death Eaters. However, it does not clarify his views on Muggle-borns. Though he seems to have hated them less than other Death Eaters (considering his behavior towards both Lily and Muggle-borns in his class), he still was happy to join an organization dedicated to their genocide, if only because all his friends and his whole social circle was there, while his bullies were on the "good" side.

That was basically overarching theme in Voldemort's downfall - he underestimated the power of love. Dumbledore, on the other hand, was perfectly confident in Snape's loyalty because he knew how much he cared about Lily.
