The biggest thing they handwave away in the plot is less the delta-V and more the part where using the main drive within a few kilometres of another ship would vaporise their hull plating and give your own crew radiation sickness with the backscatter because of the enormous, ridiculously hot, energetically radiating propellant plume. | |
