4Considering what happened to the original Stargazer, it's probably a good idea not to let Picard anywhere near the new one.– Paul D. WaiteCommented Mar 3, 2023 at 16:09

2I'd speculate new-ish management wants to merchandise their own creations. No TV executive gets credit for merely approving the old management's hit show. And put more distance between seasons 1 and 2 - not that it really matters. But ultimately it's surely one more thing to sell right?– lucasbachmannCommented Mar 3, 2023 at 21:06

2Now that we're several episodes into season 3, I think the Stargazer simply wouldn't have worked for the plot they want to tell. I could lay out the reasons (they need Picard and Riker to be with an unfamiliar crew, Shaw commanding the Stargazer wouldn't make sense, etc.) but I'm not sure that would qualify as a full answer.– WithadCommented Mar 21, 2023 at 11:12

Perhaps not, but that conclusion does make sense.– Sovereign InquiryCommented Mar 21, 2023 at 14:07

A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
Type the name of the science fictional or fantastical work your question is about (Example:
star-wars
).For questions not specific to any one work, use concept tags to describe your question (Example:
story-identification
).Tagging rules:
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. story-identification), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
