Sep 30, 2019 at 23:06 comment added Russhiro @Valorum Dude, you are harsh! How about a copy of the scrip where Guinan says her ancestors escaped because "resistance isn't futile"? STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION "I, Borg" Script #40275-223, Teleplay by Jeri Taylor, Directed by Robert Lederman? Can read it Here:http: //www.st-minutiae.com/resources/scripts/223.txt. She calls them a "few", but keep in mind this was centuries ago, and although they don't have a planet, much like the relative 500,000 Vulcans from the 2009 Star Trek movie who survived the planets destruction, they are far from extinct, and still growing.
Sep 30, 2019 at 22:41 comment added Valorum You're not going to convince me by quoting from a fan-written wiki :-) Show me some proof that they resisted. Show me some proof that they thrived.
Sep 30, 2019 at 22:36 comment added Russhiro @Valorum Quote: Around 2265, while Guinan wasn't present, this species was the victim of a major attack by the Borg, with all but a handful of El-Aurians being assimilated or killed...fatalities numbered in the millions and included Doctor Tolian Soran's family: his wife and children....by resisting when the Borg came to assimilate them, the El-Aurians defied their attackers' motto that "resistance is futile." When the El-Aurian homeworld was destroyed, the... species was scattered throughout the universe but nevertheless prevailed. memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/El-Aurian
Sep 30, 2019 at 22:31 comment added Russhiro @Valorum That's why I provided the quote; the wiki itself spoke to their empathic ability. I called it "non-descript" because, as stated, we never saw them using the type of limited tactile telepathy of Vulcans, the psionic bonding of Lumerians, the precognition of the Yattho, or the straight telepathy of the Betazoids. The idea of her possibly having access to a weapon, or knowledge that could harm Q or her learning some technique to use against him, I was quite specific in saying "there is no solid evidence of this."
Sep 30, 2019 at 22:19 comment added Valorum My concern is that you're making a whole bunch of unsupported statements. "All El-Aurians are said to have latent empathic abilities of a non-descript type" - Says who? "the El-Aurians as a species escaped, survived and thrived." - Really? We only see a few and they seem to be in bad shape. "So it's not improbable that she may have access to something which could be seen as harmful to Q's kind....." - Huh? Really? She's got a sun-buster hidden under her wimple, perhaps. I could go on.
Sep 30, 2019 at 22:10 comment added Russhiro @Valorum Which ones, specifically? I think the longevity and assertions of Q's ego and double-dealing nature are fairly straightforward. I could only speak to the broad range of El Alurian empathy based on what the website said.
Sep 30, 2019 at 22:03 comment added Valorum Can you offer any specific evidence to back up some very broad statements?
