We're happy to highlight Trevor Waldmeyer and Nikolaos Papagiannis, our exceptional Core Labs staff members, for their insightful presentations on "Prototyping in a Research Environment" at Space Camp 2102! Space Camp 2102, hosted by KAUST’s Strategic National Advancement, is a highly-acclaimed program in collaboration with Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST)وكالة الفضاء السعودية | Saudi Space Agency & Starlight Education Group. Over 150 gifted students aged 13-15 from across Saudi Arabia came together for a transformative educational adventure in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Students got the chance to meet with Saudi Space Agency (SSA) astronaut Mariam H. Fardous, NASA astronauts Kathryn Thornton and Charles Gemar, and European analog astronaut Charlotte Pouwels. The camp ended with the Space 2102 Challenge where students designed and tested their own CubeSat missions. The Core Labs presentation was closely linked to designing CubeSats. This connection helped the students understand the practical application of prototyping in space-related projects. Our experts shared insights into design thinking principles, emphasizing the importance of identifying genuine needs and ensuring the viability and feasibility of ideas. They also provided a concrete example project that exemplified these principles and discussed the challenges encountered and the design process followed to develop a proposed solution. We're proud to have such talented and dedicated individuals on our team, constantly striving to inspire and educate the next generation of scientists and engineers. The #CORE of Education

The KAUST Imaging & Characterization Core Lab presents: Explore Zeiss Imaging Technologies Wednesday, May 15, 2024 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM              Bldg. 3 – Level 5 – 5209 The KAUST Imaging and Characterization Core Lab, Optical Microscopy (OM) Unit, in collaboration with Attieh Medico and Carl Zeiss AG, is delighted to invite you to a day of enlightening lectures introducing two cutting-edge imaging modalities recently installed in our Core Labs. We are proud to present application scientists from Zeiss who will discuss the remarkable capabilities of super-resolution microscopy and whole slide scanning microscopy.   Super-resolution microscopy, powered by the Zeiss Elyra 7, employs structured illumination and single-molecule localization techniques to achieve an astounding resolution of 60 nm. Through this technology, biologists gain unprecedented access to the intricate molecular details of cells, enabling the observation of live cell dynamics at remarkable speeds.   The Axioscan 7, our whole slide scanning microscope, revolutionizes image acquisition by automating the process for a diverse range of samples within the life sciences sector. Whether it's tissue sections prepared with traditional histological stains or fluorescent probes, the Axioscan 7 effortlessly captures and digitizes entire slides, offering researchers a comprehensive view of their samples. Moreover, this powerful instrument extends its utility to material science research, as it enables imaging of thin rock sections using plane-polarized, cross-polarized, or circularly polarized light.   This event is open to anyone interested in gaining valuable insights into the latest advancements in imaging technologies and their applications in various scientific disciplines.   To view the full agenda, click here: https://lnkd.in/dgGg72i2 Register here by Monday, May 13, 2024: https://lnkd.in/dNyX9Mj7 The #CORE of Technology
