Oct 16, 2021 at 21:33 comment added Guybrush McKenzie @AndrewADeMarco different editions of different games may have had different advice - Mage 20 has the same setup as Werewolf 20 by default, but mentions that while previous editions were mostly the same, Mage Revised reversed it, allowing XP spending on backgrounds. I’d have to dig out my revised books to check how universal that was, though. I’ll add this to the answer, though W20 doesn’t make any mention of this.
Oct 16, 2021 at 17:28 comment added Andrew A DeMarco had I been playing wrong or is mage the awakening different from werewolf? I remember spending XP increasing my wealth trait during play. I went from 3 to 4, and story wise said it was from selling stocks at a profit (my character was just a paramedic, but he had a trust fund).
