Also, and I infer from your wording that you recognize this already, but to be explicit: ability checks don't benefit from critical success anyway. | |

The effect is the same, except for Charming Gesture you can only choose one creature that can see you (no stealth allowed), Universal Speech lets you choose a number of creatures within 60 feet. | |
