Apr 3, 2019 at 19:23 comment added Pyrotechnical This answer could be improved by discussing the frequency that Tides of Chaos sees recharge at your table. If you're not using Tides of Chaos then you're hardly ever getting surges and it substantially impacts the balance.

Apr 2, 2019 at 15:43 comment added mdrichey Regarding surges being "few and far between:" Don't forget that Tides of Chaos can force a wild magic surge. That's how my Wild Magic sorcerer ensures that she gets at least one surge a day.
