Jan 31, 2019 at 14:47 comment added hohenheim @BenBarden: Yes, Intelligence would make sense. I just tried to change as little as possible about the basics this variant is based on. The more I change, the higher the chance that the almighty god-kings on stackexchange will deem it unbalanced :)

Jan 31, 2019 at 14:18 comment added Ben Barden @hohenheim which stat you use is, roughly, determined by how you channel your powers. The Druid gets their powers by being in tune with the natural world (wis). The priest gets their powers by being in tune with their deity. The sorcerer gets their powers by raw force of will and personality imposed on the world (cha). The wizard gets their powers by knowing things (int). It's at least a pretty significant flavor effect. It seemed like the character was using his knowledge of alchemy and strange magics to do this stuff, and for that I would have expected int.
Jan 31, 2019 at 14:13 comment added hohenheim @BenBarden: Don't know. Why not? Druids seem to rely on their wisdom to transform themselves into different forms. The flavor for this variant is different, of course, and there are points to make for the spellcasting being intelligence-based (or even charisma-based). I don't think one or the other spellcasting ability will make or break this variant.
Jan 31, 2019 at 14:03 comment added Ben Barden why wisdom-based?

Jan 31, 2019 at 13:29 comment added hohenheim @PJRZ: I already know about the Order of the Mutant. As you said, this isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I'M really going for a full-on transformation. But yeah, if this variant druid doesn't prove balanced, I will probably try to modify thus Mutant Blood Hunter.
Jan 31, 2019 at 13:26 comment added PJRZ Slightly off-topic, but you may want to look at DnD Beyond and check out the slightly-unofficial Blood Hunter class (its under Classes->Additional). This has an 'order of the mutant' sub-class which isn't exactly what you are suggesting but fits the basic theme pretty well

there is no need to signal edits, incorporating the clarification into the question should be enough
