Overview of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Benefits

Save on IT costs

Using multiple systems for different departments often equates to extra expenses on licensing, support, and infrastructure to maintain such systems. As an ERP solution, Dynamics 365 can help your business save on IT costs by unifying disparate systems into one.

Moreover, with only one system to learn, you’ll spend less time and resources on training employees or end-users. This means you can also increase productivity since they don’t need to switch back and forth between several applications.

Dynamics 365 is a comprehensive suite of business apps that integrate seamlessly together but are also modular. You can purchase only those apps that correspond to your business needs, which means it’s another area where you can save on IT costs.

Improved efficiency and planning

Disconnected systems and data sources can slow down your team and negatively affect their output. It can also hinder strategic planning and decision-making since the information needed to assess scenarios come from different departments.

With Dynamics 365, you can integrate systems, unify your data, and store it in one, centralized location. This allows team members to efficiently handle business processes as they have access to the data and tools that they need to accomplish their tasks. Also, senior managers and decision-makers in the company can engage in strategic planning with confidence since they have a single source of truth and can see the bigger picture when making decisions.

Better collaboration and workflows

Effective collaboration among employees is crucial to business success. However, it’s not always easy to do because many companies still have their teams working in silos.

Implementing Dynamics 365 as your ERP solution provides on-demand access to information; thus, streamlining collaboration. Also, with data funneled into a single source, team members can have real-time project updates, thereby improving workflows and reducing operational costs for your business.

Standardized processes and improved productivity

Whether you choose one, some, or all of the apps offered in Dynamics 365, you’ll receive intelligent business applications powered by technologies that help standardize business processes. Technologies such as AI and machine learning and robotic process automation, for instance, are used to automate financial operations, plan supply and production in near real-time, and modernize sales organizations.

Automation features that come with Dynamics 365 can enhance the productivity and efficiency of your business. That’s because when you automate processes in your operations, you not only alleviate the physical strain of repetitive tasks on workers, but you also avoid error-prone manual processes. As a result, employees can shift their focus on tasks that generate more value for the company.

Align sales and marketing

Sales and marketing teams that use a variety of business tools for their department-specific tasks often end up losing valuable insights due to scattered customer information. With Dynamics 365 Sales and Dynamics 365 Marketing, you can have powerful CRM features that align your sales and marketing teams to improve customer communications and create a seamless customer journey.

Connecting your sales and marketing data in a single platform can help your salespeople and marketing specialists gain a 360-degree view of customers and collaborate better to navigate the challenges of modern selling. For example, marketing teams can set up customer segments to run highly-personalized and targeted campaigns. They can then share leads that exhibit sales-ready behavior for salespeople to start working on converting those leads into paying customers.

Increased customer retention

Acquiring customers is one thing, keeping them is another. Dynamics 365 can help your sales team gain deeper insights into your customers and build relationships with authentic personal engagement.

Dynamics 365 Sales, for example, can help salespeople keep track of customer relationships by revealing which ones are healthy and which ones show risk signals. Meanwhile, its AI capabilities can communicate with empathy and track customer conversations to determine emotion, sentiments, and priorities. These and other intelligent features help your salespeople leverage technology for proactive customer service and improved engagement.

What Problems Will Microsoft Dynamics 365 Solve?

Problem #1: Disconnected data

Microsoft Dynamics 365 helps users connect their data and access it from a centralized location. This eliminates time-consuming checking and validation and makes sure users always have up-to-date information. For example, the software can connect email, calendar, and contact data as it has Outlook/Exchange sync capability.

The product can also automatically fill in lead information. This means your salespeople don’t need to worry about administrative work and can focus their time on nurturing leads and actually making the sale.

Problem #2: Lack of audience/customer insights

Dynamics 365 has social listening tools that allow you to track, respond, and analyze conversations about your brand on social media. Social listening is important as it can provide valuable insights into what your customers want from your brand. It also gives you opportunities to engage with your customers, improve your product or service, and increase customer retention.

Problem #3: Poor planning and demand fulfillment

In order to meet the demands of a competitive business environment, you have to transform your operations from a reactive to a predictive one. Dynamics 365 has AI-powered features that can help you predict demand and deliver products on time. You can plan supply and distribution in near real-time and avoid overstocking and stock-outs. The product can also automate and streamline production scheduling and resource allocation.

TOP 20

Microsoft Dynamics 365 is one of the top 20 CRM Software products

It's important to note that almost no service in the CRM Software category is an ideal solution that can meet all the requirements of various business types, sizes and industries. It may be a good idea to read a few Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM Software reviews first as specific solutions can dominate only in a very small group of applications or be prepared with a very specific industry in mind. Others may function with a goal of being easy and intuitive and as a result lack advanced functions needed by more experienced users. You can also come across solutions that support a large group of users and provide a rich feature toolbox, however that usually comes at a higher price of such a service. Ensure you're aware of your needs so that you choose a service that has specifically the features you look for.

PROS: At first sight, the program seems and feels pleasant, and most of the people would not expect its functionality to blow minds. But the program has everything it needs, and even if it didn't, customization would still make it the most suitable tool for your business.

CONS: Dealing with CRM software is never free of kinks, I bet you know that already. I mind, for instance, that you have to reactivate the duplicate detection rules each time you publish metadata on an entity. It’s really frustrating, but I've seen worse.

Anonymous Reviewer

PROS: There's no real positive feature of Dynamics except that it's comprehensive. But it does everything painfully though. The problem with a lot of reviews is that they only get the first impression of the software and they don't have the time to truely use the software on a daily basis with real data and customers. The company I work for has been using Microsoft Dynamics for around a year and it has been a complete nightmare since day one. As a result I strongly recommend companies not use Microsoft Dynamics.

CONS: Microsoft Dynamics is littered with critical technical issues. We have been having continuous issues with data deleting itself without our consent or any forewarning. This has cost our company considerable time and money and loss of data. Worst of all their support is horrible. They are difficult to get hold off and you get thrown around many Microsoft departments and no one knows anything about Microsoft Dynamics specifically. From my experience I believe there are only 2-3 actual technical support operators in the Asia Pacific region and this is for Microsoft's flagship CRM product. Microsoft has shown little interest in resolving our technical issues we have had with our very stock standard and most up to date cloud version of Microsoft Dynamics. The interface is complex and clunky and when performing actions and tasks it's like playing a slot machine you don't know if you're going to get lucky and it will work or whether you will encounter a completely unintelligible error message. There's also very little compatibility with other modern cloud platforms like Zendesk and MailChimp. The software is slow and it feels like it is normal operating system software working through a cloud connector rather than software written for the cloud. You should not purchase Microsoft Dynamics, you will run into technical issues and when those issues occur there will be no support to assist you. If something goes wrong and you need to restore data you will be stuffed and your business will be significantly disrupted. Microsoft Dynamics isn't cheap either, and you will likely need the help of consultants/contractors who have used it before to get it working for you. Our company if currently assessing alternative CRM's.

PROS: I like that Microsoft Dynamics allows me to create specific activities so I can assign them to other employees and this makes my work even more organized. I can create customized dashboards and control other dashboards at the same time. It provides me with ability to use Advanced Find so I can segment and export contacts to use them in marketing purposes. In addition, I can set up automatic emails based on behaviors in CRM so everyone in the company can stay organized. Furthermore, this system is well integrated with other software like marketing automation platforms.

CONS: Sometimes the updates of Microsoft Dynamic CRM crash the entire system.

PROS: The sales team loves MD CRM customization. No wonder! We've filtered down useful resources to a micro level, and we have a great overview of what we are doing. Personally, I'm involved in territory planning, so you can imagine how glad I feel to search by favorized criteria (areas, regions, sizes, types). The fact that our entire data (from contacts to sales outcomes) is gathered in one place only makes it better.

CONS: Syncing time is too challenging for the nature of my job, it displays all nearby accounts, not just mine. But I'm still not sure who has the fault, it might be the way we customized it. However, the mobile app is not that admirable, so I think they should really think of extending its efficiency. ''Go back", for instance, takes you on top of the list instead of the last tab you had opened.

PROS: As a current user of Microsoft Office Ribbon, I find the interface familiar and easy to navigate. The system does untie hands to do your own customization, as for instance to manipulate field traits, to form layouts, and even to manage your entire business flows. You're absolutely free to add views, entities, and dashboards; and you're in permanent control of who is seeing them. I couldn't complain on integrations or security either, the guys really thought of everything.

CONS: As a developer, I might have an extended list of requirements, but I honestly think there are gaps that even savvy users can see. For instance, inconsistency with every possible code-promotion model (doesn’t refer to unmanaged solutions only, but the managed ones too). Movement is not among the things you're controling, not even with TSF. Modest users would compensate with SDK kits or third party software, but in a developers' world, you must have a method that stops overwriting, or moves and deploys elements. This way, I'm updating elements in target deployment manually, and it exhausts me. Another thing that takes control out of my hands are limited field transformations (only by names, not by roles). What do you do then, when your entire system is based on them?

PROS: I always joke how we exhausted the program and there is no team out there that is relying on it more than we do. But it's somehow true, you know-we went from on-prem to cloud CRM, and we began to bear fruit from this smart decision. Updates come smoothly, and disaster recovery stands there pitch-perfect, even if I don't believe we're going to use it.

CONS: I can't say if it's us or the program, but at a certain point we lost our marbles completely. Let's assume it was an initial shock of having data in the cloud-now we've recovered, and online performance feels like our second nature. What I do mind is high-dependency on connection quality, that one should improve for sure.

CONS: It can be little difficult to learn the record creation and routing rules. I’m currently learning to accept the new site map editor but I feel it’s not as flexible as it was. I’d like to see even more configuring options.

I like that I can keep track of all data we need to better run our company starting from demographic info, product info to customer purchasing patterns.

PROS: There are plenty of implementation options for your company to turn this software into a valuable CRM asset. Frankly, it will take time and energy to exploit its full potential, but once you do, processes will start driving the system without you being involved.

CONS: The system is not something you could describe as easy. In fact, you'd have to employ some previous knowledge of Microsoft programming languages, or at least the basics of Micorsoft administration processes. The system offers a wide range of possibilities, and the portion you're going to use depends on the time you're investing to learn. Besides, learning Microsoft Dynamics CRM never stops: you have to stay updated on any transformation of its dynamics. This was a huge issue for our company because each time that we recorded a training video, we had to update it only after few months.

PROS: It is mainly a collaboration app that does an awesome job for extracting Excel functions, updating bulk reports, and it is well-integrated with Outlook. Very compact and easy to use. It is working much better than our previous software, even if we're just starting to deploy it. Our current goals are to integrate it with other social systems (Dynamic Pivot tables, Yammer, etc). So far, we got to love the intuitive interface and the clean process it provides.

CONS: We thought that, unlike classic CRM, this app would be a solution for shorter loading times, and will have more editable grids to reduce clicks. Those are the only things that the system needs to be perfect, this way it is simply running short of user confidence.

PROS: A rare combination of effortless customization and functionality, indeed. Builds great reports, and monitors all contacts, activities and accounts to give a better perspective on opportunities. We have separate workflows where we extract Excel data, and that's admirable for a CRM. It also has a unique hierarchy which segregates permissions and database access for different users and teams. Best of all: The entire team gets on board without training.

CONS: The CRM is awesome until you try to bring your internal processes inside. On top of the licensing costs we paid, we had to invest in immodest configurations, and that was not what we expected. I think that in the end it will cost arms and legs to cover all updates (they come as separate versions and you pay for each one separately). We're using the 2011 version, and our agents have a hard time accessing data out of office, especially without being connected to a VPN. Newer versions are probably better, but they are a luxury we cannot afford.

PROS: I have to say that thanks to this software the workflows are even more powerful than they used to be. CRM offers great set of features like Project management, Portals and others that are great for end-customer especially when they get integrated modules into the apps. Our developers are very satisfied with the simplicity of customization and configuration. The Auto record creation allows creation of any type of records.

CONS: In my opinion, they could improve the Outlook connector and I don’t like that they constantly change the UI. The new navigation is not intuitive for newbies. In addition, HTML editors and file uploading features need some work. Also, I don’t have great experience with this tool and Gmail. Furthermore, they could include even more features to Social Panel so the developers can modify and work easier.

PROS: MD CRM tool provides great integration with Outlook. The cloud-based version is full packed and there is no need to hire an IT expert because everything is handled perfectly by Microsoft. It is Microsoft product, so you don’t have to worry about thing.

CONS: You need to customize it so it can suite your needs, and this can be difficult.

PROS: MD 365 CRM allows me to set tasks and open cases within Citrix environment, to have everything at my fingertips and to organize my whole work. I’m able to open calendar and set a task. I really like how this system works with other apps like CSPro and Avaya.

CONS: When working within this program it tends to open new windows when there is no need or to move to some other areas within one window instead of opening new tab. I believe they could improve this issue in near future.

PROS: I like the simplicity of the product especially when it comes to edit lists by using its editable grids, there is no need to export data and saving it on desktop in order to create bulk edits or even pivot tables. There is great integration with SharePoint and OneDrive.

CONS: I have experienced that the setup of the software can take longer than expected, and what I mean by that is the fact that this tool forces you to strip things down to what you need unlike other software that start simple and allow you to add on functionality.
