Legal Online Poker Florida – Is Poker Legal in the Sunshine State?

The quick answer is no, but it is a grey area. The state of Florida does not currently have legislation that regulates online poker activities. Many poker fans in the state regularly visit offshore poker sites like the ones reviewed here to play their favorite poker games.

This site has 16+ crypto payment methods, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether. Players can also use all the main credit/debit cards to transact. We recommend crypto here because deposits and withdrawals start from only $20, depending on your selected coin.

Our Verdict: 4.7/5

BetOnline is a seasoned poker site that’s been around since 1991. It is part of the Chico Poker Network that also runs SportsBetting Poker and TigerGaming. 3. Bovada – Best Online Poker Site in FL for Serious Amateurs

Bovada Poker Online In Florida

  • Website: https://www.bovada.lv/poker
  • Poker Network: PaiWangLuo poker network
  • Established: 2011
  • License: Curaçao eGaming
  • Deposit methods: Cryptocurrencies, Credit/Debit cards
  • Average Daily Poker Traffic: 2000

Poker Game Selection: 4.9/5

Bovada is one of the best online poker sites for Florida players just starting out playing poker. The site offers Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and Omaha Hi/Lo variants. Running on the Paiwangluo Poker Network (Bodog), the games are very soft, and more than 2,000 are playing at peak times.

Poker Rakeback, Offers, and Promotions: 4.5/5

There is a 5% rake on Bovada cash games, and a higher fee is required when you play tournaments. Bovada does not offer rakeback. However, the welcome bonus is not too shabby, offering to match your deposit up to $500.

Poker Tournaments: 4.5/5

Poker tournament fans will not suffer any shortage at Bovada. This site carries several multi-table tournaments, plus sit-and-go Florida online poker real-money events you can join daily.

One of the most popular tournament events at Bovada is the Monthly Milly. The tournament has a guaranteed $1 million prize pool, which in many ways is reflected in the buy-in, as you have to fork out $535 before you play. Bovada does have a series of satellite events you can play to gain admission.

From as low as $1, satellite buy-ins are more budget-friendly and well within reach of many fish and serious amateurs. So expect extremely soft traffic at the tables when you sign up for one of these.

Deposit and Withdrawal Options: 4.6/5

Florida poker sites generally tend to have reliable payment methods. At Bovada, you can use cryptocurrencies, cards, and vouchers to pay your way. Cryptocurrencies are usually the best option for completing inward or outward transactions since they work around the traditional banking infrastructure, and the payouts are quick and free.

Our Verdict: 4.6/5

Bovada is an excellent pick for both serious and recreational amateurs. The site runs on the PaiWangLuo network, which is known to be a haven for fish and other recreational players. You can take advantage of Bovada’s many newbie-friendly features like anonymous tables to get started. But when you have honed your poker skills, heads-up games with regs are also an option.

Pros

  • Random table seating
  • Hand history viewer
  • Over 2000 players on average at peak times

Cons

  • No rakeback
  • Only 30 days to complete welcome bonus wagering requirements

Poker Game Selection: 4.5/5

Everygame operates on the Horizon Poker Network and provides Florida online poker players safe access to Hold’em and Omaha cash games. There are, on average, over 300 players on the tables at peak hours. While this is not the most we have seen, there is plenty of action here to keep you engaged.

Poker Rakeback, Offers, and Promotions: 4.6/5

There is a rakeback of 36% at Everygame – more than Bovada but less than other online poker rooms operating in Florida. New players on the site can also claim the 200% welcome offer of up to $1,000. This bonus also comes with 25 free spins you can use in the casino

Poker Tournaments: 4.7/5

FL online players will suffer no shortage of multi-table, sit-and-go, freeroll, and bounty tournament action at Everygame. Fast Fortune is an exciting sit-and-go tournament where the prize pool is randomly determined at the start of the event. You can win as much as 1,000 times your buy-in when playing this tournament.

Everygame gives out gold chips when you play, and you can convert these into frequent player points. Now, you can use these points to gain entry into gold-chip tournaments. Players can win more gold chips or buy into bigger tournaments – for example, the $10,000 Sunday Myriad.

Everygame offers daily freeroll tournaments. You can play freerolls for a seat at the weekly $10,000 GTD Sunday Sundowner. Monthly freeroll action is also available for players looking to win free bets, free spins, or more gold chips.

Deposit and Withdrawal Options: 4.7/5

Dozens of banking options are available at FL online poker sites and here at Everygame. These include Visa, Mastercard, BetterEFT, Paysafecard, and Jet Bank Transfer. We recommend cryptos like Lightning Bitcoin for players in Florida. Transactions go through instantly at no cost, and you can use them for transactions between $5 and $100.

Our Verdict: 4.6/5

Everygame offers online poker and casino players the best of both worlds. Claiming the welcome bonus will get you a 200% deposit match of up to $1,000 to use on online poker. But this offer also comes with free spins for the casino. Here are some pros and cons you must know before you sign up at Everygame.

5. Ignition – Massive FL Online Poker Site with 2,000 Players on Average

Ignition Poker Online in Florida

  • Website: https://www.ignitioncasino.eu/poker
  • Poker Network: Paiwangluo Poker
  • Established: 2016
  • License: Curaçao
  • Deposit methods: Cryptocurrency, Visa, Mastercard
  • Average Daily Poker Traffic: 2000

Poker Game Selection: 4.5/5

Ignition was launched in 2016 and is part of the PaiWangLuo network. The site enjoys healthy traffic, with over 2,000 players recorded online at peak times. It is an excellent option for Florida online poker fans looking for Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and Omaha Hi/Lo.

Poker Rakeback, Offers, and Promotions: 4.3/5

Like other online poker sites running on the PaiWangLuo network, Ignition does not offer a rakeback. Instead, players can claim a welcome bonus worth up to $1,500.

Ignition also offers a bad beat bonus. When you lose the game holding a full house aces full of kings, Ignition will give you a bonus worth 100x the big blind, up to $1,000. This rollover-free bonus will hit your account within 48 hours, provided you meet all the requirements.

Poker Tournaments: 4.5/5

Ignition poker tournaments come in all shapes and sizes. You can join re-entries, knockouts, satellites, turbos, and sit-and-gos.

Satellite tournaments are among the most popular at online poker sites in Florida. Instead of winning a predetermined amount like in regular tourneys, satellites reward you with a seat at a higher buy-in table. A great example is the $220,000 GTD held on Sundays with a $150 buy-in. Joining a satellite tournament can win you a seat at this tournament for $1.

Sit-and-gos are also popular for recreational and regular players. This is because you can choose to take on a reg in heads-up sit and go with only the two of you at the table. Or you can play an event with up to 27 fish competing for the best hands to win the money.

Deposit and Withdrawal Options: 4.6/5

Ignition poker may not have the largest variety of banking methods. Sites like Everygame have more eWallet options, and ACR supports money transfer options. That said, FL poker players can still find several banking methods to use.

The available alternatives include traditional payment methods like direct bank transfer, Visa, and Mastercard and crypto options like Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Ethereum. Depending on your chosen method, you can deposit from as little as $5.

Our Verdict: 4.5/5

Ignition is one of the best poker rooms for new players. It enjoys some of the best soft traffic in Florida with lots of new fish looking for Omaha and Texas Hold’em. On average, the site hosts more than 2,000 players on the tables at peak hours, coming second only to ACR. Here are some pros and cons to note before joining Ignition.

Pros

  • Bad beat bonus available
  • Anonymous table feature
  • 2000 players available online at peak hours

Cons

  • No rakeback

6. Juicy Stakes – Top FL online destination offering Bubble Protection

Juicy Stakes Poker Lobby Florida

  • Website: https://www.juicystakes.eu/
  • Poker Network: Horizon Poker
  • Established: 2009
  • License: Curaçao
  • Deposit methods: Neteller, Skrill, Credit/Debit cards, Crypto
  • Average Daily Poker Traffic: 300

Poker Game Selection: 4.5/5

Juicy Stakes is a good venue for players who want to learn how to play online poker in Florida. Besides standard game options like No-limit Hold’em and Pot-limit Omaha, you can also play heads-up against other players once you feel comfortable.

The traffic is not too bad either. 300 online poker players spend time at the tables during peak hours, giving you plenty of opportunities to learn how others play.

Poker Rakeback, Offers, and Promotions: 4.6/5

The rakeback percentage is important for anyone playing online poker in Florida. Juicy Stakes offers an industry-leading 36% fixed rakeback. Players can also claim the house welcome bonus, where you will get a 200% deposit match up to $1,000.

Playing for real money at Juicy Stakes earns you frequent player points (FPPs). These FPPs can accumulate to become Gold Chips, which are exchangeable for no deposit bonuses on free tournament play.

Poker Tournaments: 4.7/5

The Juicy Stakes tournaments page has close to a dozen different options. Since this poker room is on the Horizon Poker network, you can expect to see the same tourneys that are available at Everygame.

This means fans of three-handed hyper-turbo fast fortune sit-and-go format events, with randomized pools, are in good company. You can also use your accumulated gold chips to participate in GTD cash prize tournaments like the Sunday Myriad.

Starting from a $1.10 buy-in, you can claim a seat at bounty tournaments where you can win cash for eliminating other players. These events are available daily and are an excellent choice for Texas Hold’em fans.

Juicy Stakes tournaments also have a cool feature called bubble protection. This is the poker room returning your buy-in and entry if you qualify. You must enter a tournament with bubble protection before it starts, to qualify. Bubble protection is only available in selected tournaments with 25 participants or more.

Deposit and Withdrawal Options: 4.2/5

Playing online poker in Florida gives you several options when depositing or withdrawing funds. The options available at Juicy Stakes include Cryptos like Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. But you can also use Visa, Mastercard, and eZeewallet.

Our Verdict: 4.4/5

Juicy Stakes’ bubble protection promo is a fantastic addition to what’s already FL’s new online poker players’ dream. You can use it when you join the $115 buy-in Sunday Myriad tournament and get your buy-in plus $10 entry back. This feature only applies to eligible tournaments that have a field of 25 players or more, and you must have registered before the start time.

Here are some more Juicy Stakes pros and cons from our experts.

Pros

  • Bubble protection available on selected tournaments
  • 7+ tournament formats running daily, weekly, and monthly
  • Industry-leading 36% rakeback
  • 90 days bonus expiry period

Cons

  • Relatively low traffic compared to other sites

7. ACR – Top Online Poker Site with up to 65% Rakeback

Americas Cardroom Online Poker Florida

  • Website: https://www.acrpoker.eu/
  • Poker Network: Winning Poker
  • Established: 2001
  • License: Costa Rica
  • Deposit methods: Bitcoin, Visa, Mastercard
  • Average Daily Poker Traffic: 1100

Poker Game Selection: 4.8/5

ACR is one of Florida’s best online poker sites for anyone learning how to play the game. It offers variants of Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and Omaha Hi/Lo, meaning there’s plenty here to keep you engaged.

One of the best features of ACR is the site traffic, which rises to over 5000 online players at peak times. The games are extremely soft and you will not wait long before finding a seat, whichever table you choose.

Poker Rakeback, Offers, and Promotions: 4.5/5

You have two options when it comes to rakeback at ACR. You can claim a fixed 27% rakeback or the more generous 65% that runs progressively. Your choice must be guided by how often you play. The first option, though relatively lower, is ideal for recreational poker players who don’t frequent the tables that often.

Poker Tournaments: 4.6/5

ACR’s tournament collection is made up of various MTTs and sit-and-go tournaments. The site’s flagship tourney is the $12,5 Million GTD Venom, where multiple winners can claim a million-dollar prize.  A seat at the table costs $2,650, but there are many ways to secure yours, including staking, the $95 buy-in Beast Tourney, Mega Satellites, and more.

ACR tourneys are well worth the effort, and with so many buy-in levels, some even cheaper than a cup of coffee, there is no excuse not to get involved. Three players, including Dominik Nitsche, recently won over a million dollars each playing the Venom.

Besides multi-million dollar tournaments, FL ACR players can take advantage of freeroll events where you can get a seat for nothing down. These tournaments have something for everyone, new and regular players alike, and are available as No-limit Hold’em, Pot-limit Omaha, and 9-max formats.

Deposit and Withdrawal Options: 4.5/5

ACR supports a long list of crypto tokens. The most popular ones include Bitcoin and Ethereum, where you can deposit a minimum of $10 per transaction. The same crypto options are valid for withdrawals, and you can take out a maximum of $10,000 per withdrawal.

Other notable payment options include Player 2 Player where friends can transfer between each other’s accounts. This is a peer-to-peer payment method accepting $1 deposits and withdrawals. A $30,000 cap is applied on all transactions with this method, which is plenty when you are playing online poker.

Our Verdict: 4.3/5

We like ACR because it covers many of the features players look for in an online poker room. Chief on the list is generous rakeback, and ACR has two rakeback options depending on gaming frequency. In addition, the site offers a 100% deposit match bonus of up to $2,000, and players can also download a real-money poker app for Florida residents. Learn more about ACR in the pros and cons section below.

Pros

  • A massive 65% Rakeback or 27% fixed
  • Accepts unique payment options like Pay4fun, Player2Player, and Person2Person
  • No fees on Bitcoin payments
  • 60 days welcome bonus expiry

Cons

  • Many sharks frequent the site

How We Rate and Evaluate Online Poker Sites in Florida

Reviewing the best poker sites in Florida requires a methodical approach, where you analyze the features that matter when players register. Our poker experts use rating criteria when constructing unbiased and trustworthy reviews.

The key factors we rate are poker games, tournaments, and traffic, plus we look at what these sites provide in terms of specific welcome bonuses and rakeback promotions.

We also discuss network rake and any HUD software used and finally look at the soft features like deposit and withdrawal options, safety and security, and customer support.

Online Poker Tournaments in Florida

There are two main options when you visit poker sites in Florida, it’s either you are sitting at a cash table or playing tournaments. There are several types of tournaments to choose from, and we have listed the main ones below.

Multi Table TournamentsSatellite TournamentsSit and Go TournamentsKnockout Bounty Tournaments

Multi-table tournaments, or MTTs, are popular with many Floridians, and with good reason. For starters, MTTs usually attract massive pot amounts, and in some formats, you don’t have to win the entire competition to get into the money. However, these can also have prohibitive buy-ins, unlike satellite tournaments.

Before main tournaments, online poker sites host smaller buy-in tourneys where the prize is a seat at the main event. These satellite tournaments are held sometimes months in advance, for example, to try and gain an entry to a tournament like the World Series of Poker or the GTD Venom which is an Americas Cardroom tournament. You can also enter these satellites a few days or hours before a big tournament begins, and if you play well, you can win your seat for a fraction of the normal buy-in.

In sit-and-go tournaments, there are no commitments. You can find a table, sit, play, and go when you want. These single-table events can have up to 9 or 10 players at a time and only take around two hours to complete.

Knockout events are a fantastic starting point if you like earning some extra cash whether you win or lose the tournament. Everyone has a bounty on their head and you collect every time you eliminate a player. Naturally, the more experienced the player, the higher the bounty. So you can win a lot of cash if you claim a few regs (card sharps).

The experience you get when playing at a high-traffic network like PaiWangLuo is different from independent providers. But each Florida online poker room has its range of games that you can play.

Regulations and Laws for Poker in Florida

Florida does not currently have specific Florida poker laws regulating online poker. The state has some land-based options where poker cash games and tournaments are available, but much more needs to be done to bring in full regulation. This section shows where we are now on this journey and some of the milestones reached along the way.

Present day

2024 – Florida does have a framework in place for the licensing or regulation of online poker. There haven’t been any major developments that can signal when this could be achieved.

Seminole tribe gaming compact

2021 – A new gaming pact was signed between Florida and the Seminole Tribe. Though online poker discussions were excluded, the new compact made way for regulated online sports betting.

Bill CS/HB 155

2013 – All efforts made to legalize online poker failed to gain traction once again as Bill CS/HB 155 was introduced to prohibit electronic gaming devices in the state, and although this was not affecting or linked to online poker, it was another setback for the lobbyists advocating for the legalization of poker online in Florida.

Bill SB 812

2011 – Online poker enthusiasts and Florida legislators lobby to legalize the activity in Florida. The idea is that regulating online poker will bring in more tax and provide players with a safe gambling environment. However, this was not pushed through and Bill SB 812 was introduced for the licensing of limited land-based poker operations

When will Florida Regulate Online Poker?

It is unclear when will online poker be legal in Florida and become a reality. The best chance of this happening soon is if the Seminole Tribe and the state of Florida sit down to hammer out a deal for everyone.

This, too, seems unlikely to happen soon. Since talks broke down in 2019 between the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Gov. Ron Desantis over exclusive gaming rights.

Not much else has taken place since, but this does not stop Florida residents from playing poker online at offshore casinos and poker rooms.

Best Poker Games in Florida

There are many poker gaming options In FL and other states where online poker is legal. We have highlighted the best ones to give you a quick look at what you can expect when registering on these sites.

Texas Hold’em is one of Florida’s most common poker variants, thanks to its easy-to-follow gameplay. To kick things off, players start with two hole cards face down. The objective of this game is to get the best five-card hand. You build this hand by combining two hole cards and three of the remaining five community cards placed at the center of the table after each round which are called the flop, the turn, and the river.

Omaha is also a familiar option, though it exhibits a slight twist from classic Texas hold’em. At Omaha poker sites, players receive four hole cards at the beginning of the game. So you must create the best hand using those cards and the community cards on the table. Multiple variations of Omaha exist, but the one played in most online poker rooms is Pot Limit Omaha.

Pot limit Omaha allows you to bet up to the size of the pot at any point in the game. The game is very similar to standard Texas hold’em but differs in how the showdown is administered. Instead of using one hole card to build your best hand, in Pot-limit Omaha, you must use two of the hole cards you receive.

Omaha Hi/Lo offers more chances to win because of the split pot. After the river, a showdown for the best-ranking hand takes place. All players still in the game must construct their highest-ranking hand using two-hole cards and three community cards.

Betting commences and the highest hand wins a share of the pot while the lowest-ranked hand takes the other share of the pot, hence the name Omaha Hi/Lo.

Seven-card stud has five rounds of betting. Each player receives two cards face down and one card face up before the first round of betting. Then three more community cards follow face up one at a time with a round of betting after each is shown.

Finally, a downcard is dealt and a final round of betting is made before players show their best five cards from the seven.

Arguably the simplest online poker variant out there, five card draw also has some unique twists. First, everyone at the table will get five cards face down. Players then place a bet. After this, each player can exchange the cards in their hand to try and improve the final five cards.

Some variants allow a player to change all cards if they add an additional amount to the pot, but the standard five-card draw game allows for a maximum of three cards to be changed. Betting then continues until there are two players left, at which point one will normally call and both players reveal their cards with the best hand taking the pot.
