Save Money on Groceries Without Losing Your Mind: 15 Strategies Anyone Can Use Kindle Edition

Are you tired of overspending on groceries? You’re not alone! Food prices have skyrocketed and don’t seem to be going down anytime soon. But the good news is that this book offers a variety of methods to help you drastically reduce your grocery bill without going to multiple stores each week or lugging around binders of coupons.

Some of the tips in this book are simple, like swapping brand-name products for store-brand alternatives and taking advantage of sales. Other methods require more time and effort, such as cooking from scratch and meal planning.
This book presents saving strategies at three levels — cheap, cheaper, and cheapest — so that you can balance time and money according to your needs. When you need to cut down on spending significantly, turn to the “cheapest” option for maximum savings. If you’re super busy and pressed for time, use the “cheap” option for quick yet effective savings. In the post-pandemic world of crazy food costs, saving money wherever you can can be the difference between a family eating well and food insecurity. The tips and tricks in this little book make it a whole lot easier, especially for parents with multiple mouths to feel and not a lot of time to scour the internet about how to bring food costs down. The ideas are simple, easy to set up, follow through on, and use regularly. I would recommend not just for those on a tight budget but for anyone tired of paying ridiculously high prices on healthy, homemade meals.

This excellent book is full of great practical advice about household management as well as grocery shopping in particular. I just purchased copies for my two children who are both in their early 20s. This book will be an invaluable resource for them as they set up their own households. I notice that many of my kids’ favorite foods are among the recipes (pancakes, waffles, muffins of all types). It’s my hope that my kids will also try making the soups in this book. I love the simplicity of the recipes. I myself plan to use the recipes for granola, basic sauces, lentil, and bean dishes. First-time cooks who might feel daunted by following recipes will appreciate the simple lists of ingredients and the straightforwardness of the instructions. Even younger teens could follow these recipes, though the book’s ideal audience is parents of small children; there are lots of good tips about family meal planning and making meals ahead of time that can be frozen. This book would also be great for immigrant families new to this country who may not be familiar with the differences in U.S. grocery stores, buying foods on sale, rewards’ programs, unit price codes, and swapping brand-name products for store-brand alternatives. The strategies offered will help beginner shoppers to establish good habits that will last a lifetime.

Not many how-to books are completely practical, which always makes me pause before I buy a book like this. Generally, they seem like expanded newspaper articles (like the one in the Wall Street Journal today, 2/27/24). Sure, I can use coupons, wait for stuff to go on sale, make mystery casseroles, make my grocery list based on the sale flyers, etc., but is there something I haven't seen?

I took a chance on this book and was glad that I did. I've already recovered 4x the books' cost on my first trip to the store, and I'm sure I'll save more with the organizing tips to avoid waste. Too often I'll just pick up things at the store that don't go with what I needed, and ends up getting thrown away a few months later.

The best part of this book is that the author doesn't do a "one size fits all" solution for everyone. We aren't all going to eat beans & rice every week, and the tips for a moderate budget were most appreciated. If you want to pinch a penny until it screams, there are tips in here, as well as pointers for those with larger budgets.

Normally I'll donate or sell a book after I've finished it, but I'm going to keep this one for a while until I absorb it. I ended up buying the Kindle version so I can keep it for a lot longer.

No fluff. This book is a really handy guide to saving money on groceries. I've read a handful of books on this topic, and for some reason, I've never found them to be that helpful. This one, on the other hand, has relatable tips that can work for anyone--from families to busy couples to single folks. I love the ideas for where to shop for those who have food allergies since that type of food is usually more expensive than the regular fare. (I'm allergic to wheat.) I'm looking forward to trying the recipes, too.

If you have been wanting to reduce your grocery bill, but you aren't sure where to start, try this easy to read book! Unlike other books, the author understands that we can't all take the time to make everything from scratch all the time, and so she offers options depending on how frugal you want to be and how much time you have. It was also simple and clear, like getting advice from a savvy friend. I also really liked all the little tips and recipes. Recommended for anyone looking to save without losing their mind!

Here's a book I wish had been around when I had littles to feed! But I grabbed my notebook as soon as I read the first few pages and started taking notes, because this will help so much even for my adult household. Great tips, great recipes, and a genuine awareness by the author of how tough the grocery struggle can be. I'll be sending copies to my kids who have littles of their own.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I came across this book. May e someone telling me how to spend my money. Needless to say, I was surprised and delighted by the content. Not only did the book give good tips and recipes, but it also gave me three levels of options (cheap, chaper, cheapest) as well as ideas to keep a stocked, ready-to-cook pantry.
Basically, I've needed this book my entire adult life.
It's definitely worth looking into and trying. I would suggest the paper version because some parts of this book will never be outdated. It might even make a great (read: practical) gift for college kids, newly weds, or new parents.
