Why did she choose O6G?

This hint was added following @user118161's answer

For second part, what he gave her was three papers. One printed all black, another empty one, white color and one with a # printed in huge font size.

Hint 1 - 8th of April

The five items share something in common. What they share has 5 letters.

Hint 2 - 15th of April

The three rightly chosen letters from black white and hashtag plus the letters of words in Hints 1, when correctly concatenated, form a person's surname that help identify why she choose O6G :)

Hint 3 - 15th of May

They are playing Chess
I modified a little Hint 2 making it better. That is, his surname is 8 letters length.

Partial answer, based on @user118161's comments:

The pictures represent:

Oscar winning movies: Lala Land, Joker, Titanic, Green Book, and Gladiator

So, the solution to Hint 1 is:

Oscar, which has 5 letters

    $\begingroup$ I think it is likely that 'Oscar' plays a role in the solution to the puzzle, but the purpose of Hint 1 was just to get us to figure out why those images were chosen in the first place. I suspect that 'movie' is what the OP had in mind with that hint. We'll know soon enough. $\endgroup$

Not an answer.

I agree. OSCAR seems fit for the first hint.

I'm not very sure of my approach, but this is how I think it could be.

She chose O6G. The surname is 8 letters long. So... OSCAR_ _G Now the order need not be this. The 'G' makes sense as it is present in the word 'Hashtag'.

Now coming up with a surname...hmm...

We could come up with some random surname like Oscarbig, Oscarleg, Oscarbeg or whatever. Since none of them seems fit, I assume that the order will change. We just have to choose a letter each from 'black' and 'white'. Another thing I thought about is whether it includes the name of some chess GM.

'Carlsen' did seem like a possibility as all letters except 'n' can be a part of the word. To form Carlsen we need an extra e and l (excluding n). I know this is some absurd logic but yeah.

So that gives us the following letters:

O, S, C, A, R, L, E, G

I'm assuming we change the arrangement of the letters between O and G to form something meaningful. I think O and G will remain fixed as she chose O6G. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I don't think this is the right approach. I'm clearly not thinking this through. (I don't have enough reps to comment. I'll delete this post later.)

The various pictures (as solved by others) are:

La La Land, Joker, Titanic, Green Book, Gladiator, White, Black, Hashtag

Using hints 2 and 3, you can take one letter from each of the above, forming an 8 letter surname, chess related:

Alekhine (Hashtag, La La Land, Joker, Black, White, Gladiator, Titanic, Green Book)

Then:

Alekhine famously played a blindfold match in 1941 (Alekhine vs Supico) in which he made a brilliant queen sacrifice Qg6 to win the game. It is known as one of his greatest moves. Note the similarity between the move QG6 and O6G.
